Des Hasler retiring

Ah, Des! I'll always remember you as a premiership-winning coach and player, as well as a vexatious litigant.

Just had a thought watching Dessie's potentially final 80 minutes as an NRL coach… I know the Titans were smart enough to put performance clauses in his contract (although not smart enough not to hire him), so he probably can't sue them for breach of contract. But we all know he's itching to bring in the lawyers.

So, what if he sues the Titans players for being useless pieces of sh@t and costing him his job? If only they weren't so crap at rugby league, they would have made the finals. Instead, the Titans players derailed their own season, and therefore killed Dessie's chances of retaining his lucrative position.

Hasler vs Fifita, Brimson, Kelly and Co. Bring it on!

Has he been sacked yet ????

The media are such arseholes , they had him gone if they lost yesterday.

I’d say now their ladder position is almost set they’ll just run with him until round 26.

Why sack him and then have to pay another coach.

It’s not like anyone is going to turn their season around.

Temporary contract, if you're good over the last rounds you get a permanent gig. If not gone.

Reports suggested that Dessie's contract allowed the Titans to sack him as soon as it was mathematically impossible for the team to make the finals - which, with the loss to the Broncos, is now the case. So they wouldn't need to pay him out. But yeah, my guess is he'll see out the season and then "retire".

I read mathematically they can still make, albeit by winning all their games by XXpts, so maybe next loss, next week 🤷🏻‍♂️

I doubt it’ll be anything more than at the end of the season Des “ retires” , keeping his dignity intact and without it being the third club in a row to be at war with.

Then suddenly , he’ll come out of retirement to take on the PNG job.

Guaranteed ( well at least “ almost “).

To be fair no one was going to succeed at the Titans. They just can't attract top players there without paying overs.
I think they have a decent team but they suffered too many injuries. Young Kino is a great player and he got injured start of season and foran wasn't available until round 9 or 10. Then add Fifita being a massive dud this year and origin they lose tino and Moe. Lots of disruption! They have a better pack then we do and the spine is good when it's at full strength. I wanted to see them at full strength but never happened

Former Wallaby Flyhalf Carter Gordon has also been injured all year and should make an awesome No.6 to replace Foz.

Just read an article which says that he racks up 500 games as a coach next weekend against the Wahs so an announcement may follow after that. Looks like the Tits are laying the ground work for a soft landing for De$.

I don’t think he’ll be getting the big payout he got at Dogs / Manly , but he’ll certainly be used for the rest of this year and given where the team is on the ladder I can’t see any reason for them to sack him with 8 weeks to go and then have to pay another coach.

But end of the year , gonski.

Will retire , for 12 months and end up in PNG on another huge contract.
