Definitely 1,000% don't agree with that.

I own a small business and so far I'm not seeing anything that will help me through this. Nothing, I actually wish I could get the dole, $1,100 a fortnight and I'd be *en happy to wait in a queue for 8 hours to get that *, if that's what it took? FMD, I dream for that kind of money.

Small business owners like me will earn nothing, we will eat into every last bit of our cash reserves, all our personal savings and we'll try and survive by taking on more debt and even then without customers or sales many of us will probably still go broke.

As far as I can tell, the measures announced so far are designed in a way to enable employers like me keep my staff employed. What I will receive at the end of April might cover a months wages, but they are not paying it until end of April anyway. They do nothing to help cover my daily overheads,. ..... insurance, rent, electricity....... bla, bla, bla. You get it. So if I don't have sales then those things aren't covered and then my team don't have a place to work anyway.

Its probably not the best financial decision but I've too much personal energy and money invested in my business to walk away without trying everything but at the moment that $1,100 a fortnight looks pretty sweet and I really wouldn't complain about having to wait in a queue or that the My Gov website crashed.

Anyway, **** times for all.

Go Manly.

Best wishes mate ..

To the doom sayers ... make no mistake .... The game of Rugby League will survive and come back even stronger .... it is a tried and proven ratings winner with a stellar 112 year history ....

The NRL is NOT rugby league ... they and greenturd could go broke and disappear tomorrow .... who gives a shiite ... the game of Rugby League still exists .... and remember the 16 clubs licenses expire next year .... if the clubs refuse to sign new ones ... the NRL is gornne ....

If the NRL think the clubs are going to come back to the table hat in hand they are deluded ....

So ... after all the chaos and carnage has settled ... it is feasable that a majority of the clubs form a new competition to play a game called Aussie League .... Foxtel and Chn 9 won't give a tinkers who runs the game .....

Wasn't the buyer Kaspersky?
No - it was a couple of Penn's mates. Not sure if they are still involved or not.

The original thread on it is here

Also people ... don't equate or think that the Penn's surviving is the same as Manly surviving ......

The Penn's are a company like any other .... the only asset that they own that is of any interest is the name "Sea Eagles" and the current NRL license rights ....

If they go bankrupt these assets will be sold by the Liquidater and purchesed by somebody else .... and happy days .... onwards and upwards .... with a new owner who bought in at a budget price ...

Very good point

Only thing I have ever agreed with trump on

“If it was up to the doctors, they’d say ‘lets shut down the whole world’.

“You can’t do that with a country, especially the number one economy in the world. Because it causes bigger problems.

“That’s why I talk about the cure being worse than the the problem.”

The asset is the license which would be handed back. Penn should have sold last year, we will survive as the manly but we will not be in the premier national competition.

Comp will reopen with 4 less Sydney teams, the gold coast will be gone and a new Brisbane team started. What they wanted to happen but didn't have the gut's to cut clubs.

I think @Woodsie has some great points.

I don’t think the National Rugby League et al Greenslime & co will survive.

They have no funds , no assets that I’m aware of , so unless the Government props them up they won’t last 2020.

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles ( franchise ) may or may not survive either.

BUT, and remember some of us have been pushing this for years , the Football Club holds the name and the colours AND they will NOT go broke.

Our club WILL survive , if the Franchise fails someone else will step up in any new competition.

Potentially because of the Football Club I’m of the belief our future , whilst grim and in no way secure, isn’t as bad as it might seem.

The Virus might kill the NRL but it won’t kill our love for the game.

If you aren’t a football club member JOIN TODAY, your $35 might well secure the longevity of our club.

That said , I’m hoping the current owners can make it through but if they can’t we’ll be back in the future , in some form.

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD.

This is all great material for my next book. Keep talking guys. I'm looking for excellent one liners for punch. By the way, what is Rugby League again?

HERE'S a one liner for ya!

“The sun, a dazzling, harsh yellow-white orb in these latitudes, again dominating a cloudless azure sky, a startling vista, almost too bright for the unshaded eye.”

(You're welcome).

Also: - Not just for you bearfax but the new way of ordering pizza from the local shop here:
Order and pay online.
Text the business when almost there.
Arrive to find your pizza box on a table outside
Take home and eat!

Lovely.
Actually, not dealing with people seems to be ok with me. lol

haha yes me too in the main.
However for young folks with a need to socialise/mating urge etc, how tough! Wonder how the dating app sites are faring.
Also tough for parents housebound with young'uns, will quickly become 'annoying' I reckon

My daughter in Moree ( luckily works for the local shire and can work from home) has been sent home with a work laptop and company mobile and been told not to return for 6 weeks and could be 12 weeks.

She has our two , very active , grandsons aged 11/9 and no other family support as such.

She sent us a text last night and said “day 1 of maybe 6 months OMG”.

She is however a lot better off than our Melbourne daughter who lives in a very small house on a tiny block with no yard.

Both our girls are lucky enough to have executive jobs that they can work from home ,thank goodness we did the hard yards to give them a good education.

Normally grandparents are happy to hop in and help take some load off but in this situation the younguns are saying better not, for your own protection!!

Love the subtle wrap you just gave yourself. lololololocoptor

Well if I don’t do it no one will.

Seriously though we lived in a country town, sent our daughters to private school in Brisbane and funded their university costs ( except for the Hecs debt) for 10 years for each girl and it did cost a ****load.

My wife worked out that her income from age 35-45 was spent entirely on this as well as 20% of mine.

Both got excellent degrees that have enabled them to get really good jobs , so money well spent!

The asset is the license which would be handed back.

The license is only an asset if the NRL cntinues to exist.... and remains in control .... otherwise the license is a piece of toilet paper ...

The name and brand however has a real value and comes complete with fans .....

That's a far less subtle wrap.

Lemme guess St Margrets....SNOBS! lol

PS: If you and mrs mfb have worked out the cost.... send them an invoice!
