Captains Challenge

While we're changing rules mid season willy nilly, isn't it time to give it a whirl? Are they still using it in the Holden Cup? Seemed to work pretty well last year. Assuming you still had one left to use in extra time the video referee would have almost certainly have reversed the decision on the Reynolds dive.

Maybe the rules could be 2 per game per team. If used and decision over turned you keep them. If the referee was right you lose them. And you automatically get 1 for the extra time period.

Regardless, the refs calls still would not go our way, all this would mean is they would have to look at it another dozen times to come up with another excuse not to give us the benefit

You're right Stevo that Holden Cup still uses the Captain's Challenge. When our under 20's played the Warriors the commentators over there were praising Gutherson for his use of the challenge. There was no way a try was going to be disallowed in our favour but with only a couple of minutes remaining in the first half the guys calling the game thought it was a wise move. The U20's captain gets 1 call each half. Possibly more if they have successful challenges.

Bring on the captains challenge.

Teams playing the Dogs or the Storm or the Bunnies should be allowed an extra challenge to account for their 'gamesmanship'.
