Bring on Schuster

Walker is a natural running footy player and not as harsh as some on his ball playing ability....but the Storm down 4 - 2 at h/t is a perfect reflection of takung control of s game and getting it done...
DCE was what you expected with plenty if touches and Bellamy realising he was our key playmaker
I know some feel Schuster is still young and no need to rush....and I get that.
But this kid has the vision and more importantly the size of a solid 23 yo and is what we need to Create that extra attack we are so close to, yet Just missing to bring the Storm, Roosters, Rabbits to their knees.
Far from a lets dig Walker thread - love the bloke...but as a centre....I call on Schuster - a future NRL Star !!

I 100% agree mate. Schuster was playing 20s this week I believe so it seems Des will not rush him BUT there does come a time in the season where Des will have no choice. Id love to see Schuster playing by rd 8 (depending on corona) age is no barrier for the elite and Schuster certainly is that.. look at fifita, haas and they are playing in the middle.

walker to centre of course, not sure what that means for Parker as he is not a winger. Maybe later in the season our backline could be
Turbo
Garrick
Suli
Walker
Hoppa
Schuster
Chez
That backline certainly has more attacking spark. Then id bring Eddie on the bench as Croker offers no spark

If only we had a genuine halfback. Someone with game management and a kicking game. Not saying Walker isn't capable DCE certainly is but only wants to be a five eight in a Manly jersey. Brodie Croft and Hughes both took control and steered their teams to victory with game management this week.

Manly just that same old hit and hope miracle passes to wingers when we finally make it down the storms end. Never building pressure and possession.

I may be wrong but Schuster is yet another running five eight isn't he?

Game is moving past Jorge, and the new rules certainly won't help his cause this year.

Yep Robbo - got your back on that call

Schuster is both a strategic passing half, plus has an Amazing running game....it’s that double play that has me thinking it’s time....

Walker was great in semis at 6 so too early to sack him at 6. I’d like to see Shuster on bench but I also think IPape is the obvious second hooker if they want a 9 and not a utility like Josh.He offers so much more than Croker. I’m not sure why we need both Croker and Cust in the thirty with the wraps on Shuster but that’s another issue.

In any case we know Des won’t change in a hurry. It’s not in his DNA.

PS not sure If IPape in top 30.

He’s not!!

I know it was only a Flegg game , what I liked about Schuster was with 5 to go and the game on the line, he had a crack and wrapped up the game. It was instinctive for him and I hope that his development continues to grow as we really need him in the first grade squad to give us creative options which was really exposed today by the fact that we hardly threw a punch at the Drizzle defence!

I watched Schuster closely today (as well as the reserve grade).
My first observation is that there is a huge gulf in standard between Flegg and even Reserve grade, let alone First Grade. Schuster scored a try today and set up the other two with sweet passing, yet he didn't really dominate. He looked to be in second gear, but he is clearly a class player and was the difference in the two sides.
He's not a 'running' five eighth, although he can motor when needed. He is a real footballer, able to read the play and put outside backs into holes. Yes, he a big boy for 18 but he will need time in Reserve Grade in order to rise to the higher standard and adjust to the fact that he is playing against men.
Yes, he is our future five eighth, but he shouldn't be rushed.
Walker, imo, doesn't have a kicking game and can't control the flow of a match like Schuster potentially can.

It’s not a rush....this bloke has time on the field and off....rarely has Manly had that young gun who can step up and make the difference....so Broncs get Hass , Fifita who both play that far harder middle third and excellence....all fans envy the ability’s they give for their team, yet respect their ability....Schuster though a back is in that Amazing league and is a Manly player....I say give him a shot and reap the rewards.

I like Schuster playing Flegg and maybe reggies all year. I was ok with everyone on our first hit out today. Walker was my biggest disappointment but Munster looked the same, except for his grubby 5hit. The 900 game Scam was the only player that picked up from where he left off last year.
We will be fine 1-17.

I thought Walker was pretty good yesterday. When he had the ball he looked the most likely of our players to split the line (other than Suli). He was also aiming up in defence.

Its very hard for a running half to get much going with the slow speed of our play the balls. He also has a new dummy half to work out. Melbourne never give up much to these sorts of players - I think he's set for a huge season.
