Bravest individual performance in origin ever on debut

Make Manly Great Again #Hasler2019
im the first to talk about tommy trbojevic’s mistakes but last night I was in awe.

Kev Walters had done his homework and knew he has a drop of two in his game. So qld bombed him and bombed him and when he caught it they bashed Him.

But he caught everyone and didn’t miss a beat.

Inglis used tom as his Personal punching bag and smashed the kid at every opportunity and the kid got up and ran at them again.

I was really scared he would have a horror debut and it would scar him I’m so happy to be wrong. I really hope he can carry that form for manly the rest of the season. Having said that the kid should because he would be one bruised and battered dude right now.

Great Game. Tough kid. Would do the world of good for his confidence!

Even though played on wing, came looking for work and i think we will see a few tries from Tom with his support play up the middle (similar role to what he does with manly)

Uate should do the same, come in and look for more work and support play through the middle of the ruck instead of posting himself on the wing all game

Yep they definitely had him as a major target and ripped in with extra attention at every opportunity.
He showed courage and by end game got his reward with a spectacular try.
That try was scored plenty in juniors as he out leaps most.
Last night took the ball of a renowned catcher in Holmes which raises a question I have been curious about watching Manly games.
Why is this weapon not used more often in club games....Tom would go close on most occasions if not score?

Please no, we need our wingers and centres out wide so we have width about us in attack. Uate, Kelly, Suli and Tafua were all in the way of the forwards last week coming in looking for work and the cowboys then just compressed their defence and won the ruck.

Great game. Thought he was playing front row with the number of hit ups he was taking. Stood up to the thug inglis too. Inglis comes in at least 3 metres off side and smashes him as soon as he gets the ball, and all the commentators rave about what an inspirational play from Inglis. So that's ok, basically blindsiding someone who has barely any time to look up before being smashed, but if sooky wooky thurston gets hit a nanosecond late after passing he has a cry and everyone sucks it up.

Raving like manly fans did when Matai used to do it?

You dont score tries on half way and thats where our bombs generally land. Also as a fullback he generally trails up the middle and with defence escorts no one gets to contest the ball in the middle. On the wing that is somewhat easier as the winger only has to contend with maybe one blocker.

But the way he circled around made that damn near impossible, and was a bit of a future blueprint for coaches to circumvent the lack of adjudication on this rule. Have your winger on the sideline and have him run in sideways.

The poor mid field bombs are another topic, along with grubber kicks to the sideline while trailing a game with 10 minutes left on the clock.

A fullback is not always glued to the middle and in fact, can place themselves anywhere to chase a bomb, grubber or any kick really.
In fact if you watch most fullbacks when on the attack near the opposition tryline, the positioning is often 3 in off a sweep play and this is where many tries are scored with the fullback often throwing the last pass to a centre or winger to score....this is wide, not in the middle.

To get Tom in a decent position to challenge a football at this level or even win a tap back, should not be that difficult given his height and leaping ability.

With my seaeagles coloured glasses off for a moment, turbo was man of the match .Tedesco made 3 runs which resulted in action no doubt, but Turbos courage under fire from Inglis was sensational. He got pumped from pillar to post and kept coming back when some players would have went to water.Took half a dozen high balls with ease , defended brilliantly and kept coming in off his wing looking for work . My man of the match and three words some it up , COURAGE UNDER FIRE.

I agree it shouldnt but who the hell knows whats doing on tackle 5 when we kick. First he has to be in the backline in case cherry runs , which he does often, then he needs to switch sides after the pivot and changes direction, while having his mind ready to cover fullback in case the kick gifts them an opportunity to counter attack

I reckon Freddy used the wingers brilliantly.
Worked them hard and seemed to send them out full of confidence.
Hope tb was watching.
