Gents,

It has been a while and the main reason I have not been around lately is because I was preparing for our annual camp quality charity golf day and dinner. I am sure you all missed me, especially Mata. Anyway a lot of work went into the event and I did have a good chat with a couple of Knights players who were in attendance.

Danny Buderus and Steve Simpson were kind enough to join us on the night and along with Nathan Bracken and his wife Hayley, and Mark Ella, it was a great event and the four blokes ran a bit of of a sports forum with Mike Rabbitt playing the host role.

Of the things that interested me most when I was talking to Danny and Steve is how gutted they were when BK left Newcastle. Danny was saying how the blokes up there were pretty disappointed when he left and both agreed that Manly have a huge hole to fill. He also stated though that he rates our forward pack highly and reckons they will be a big improver this year.

I spoke briefly about JL and they have a huge opinion of the bloke and rate him very highly.

The knights have been back in training now for 2 weeks and the boys had to back up from dinner and head straight to an 8am training session.

I have a video clip of the sports forum that I can post if possible, would need help from Dan. Or I can email it to anyone who is interested in seeing these 4 sporting greats discussing various issues. It was vidoetaped with my digital camera so the quality is not great but you can still hear and see everything.

I must say Nathan Bracken is a top bloke and a great speaker. Mark Ella was absolutely hilarious, he played golf with us during the day and had some very funny stories to tell.

I know a few us take issue with things that happen on the field and sometimes we tend to judge players on that, but when you meet these blokes in person and get to spend a few hours with them, it does tend to change your opinion a bit.

Both Danny and Simmo are top blokes, just really down to earth blokes who are very easy to get along with. The same can be said of Nathan Bracken and Mark Ella.

A few pics of the event below:

Bracken looks like he is freaking out in that last photo. Scary.

This thread needs more photos of his wife to be honest though.

Good thoughts in this thread though. You should've asked Simmo how close he actually came to signing for Manly!
