Does anyone have one?

I picked up one on Saturday, one of the new full HD Samsung LCD's. 46 inch 1920 X 1080.

Im very happy with it so far, plays sport well and the HD digital tv looks fantastic.

To get the full quality out of it i need either HD DVD or Blu-ray. Has anyone looked into these yet? What are your thoughts on their future?

I cant help but think there will be a beta - VHS type scenario and one will become obsolite

Sweet Fluff, I bought a Panasonic 42" plasma about 18 months ago, they are awaesome to watch the new ones, I saw one at Harvey Norman out here the other day, the true HD is spot on. LCDs are light years ahead of even 12 months ago, I wouldnt have bought a real big (42" or up) LCD then but the new ones are the goods.

The one down side is watching some of the Austar/Foxtel stuff on it. some of its great but a lot, particularly overseas sport, is so compressed it looks like garbage. and at that size its very noticeable, but for movies and free to air Digital, it's awesome

As for Blu Ray and HD DVD, I wouldnt buy either till the dust settles and the prices come down, by the end of the year there will be more of an idea which one is going to be dominant, maybe neither. and the range of titles on either is not too extensive yet anyway.
