We are two rounds ahead of where we were last year.

It’s eerie that we won tonight 13-12 with a DCE field goal in a slog against a bottom 8 team.

Last year it was the 13-12 against the Warriors in Gosford with DCE sealing the one point win. It turned out to be the start of the great run as we remembered how to win.

Let’s hope the return of Aloai, injection of a new centre and Schuster eventually we start to take off.

There is plenty to look forward to. This team isn’t this bad.

Horrible performance- it was only an opposition who could not take advantage of an inept Manly performance
Sorry to be a negative Nelly, on reflection, a definite better start than 2021 and hopefully onwards and upwards

And after that Warriors game we went to Mudgee and blew the opposition off the park….Just sayin’

Don’t disagree with the performance assessment but trying to get the positive vibes going.

No, you were right the first time.

Thank you Sir, fans were spoilt over last year, forgetting how valuable 2 points are. We get it, ugly or not, and we proceed. We only need a yucky field goal win last year to kickstart our season, maybe this is it for us again this year. And with Schuster back, hopefully Harper dropped for Tui or Koula which is exciting, and what I'm expecting is a rejuvenated Aloiai, we are only going to get better. 2nd half of the roosters and the continuation into this doggies game has probably helped us a lot in getting our combination back up and running.

I'm guessing Schuey will return around the time manly clicks into gear and starts putting decent amount points on opposition teams and the media will drop the old headline of "manly are reliant on torbo" and run with "manly are reliant on schuster"

Schuey and Turbo combines well and was part of our great run last year .It will happen again when he comes back and only upwards and onwards to the finals .

I agree @Under the Sticks I also think our squad balance is pretty damn good actually. Optimistic maybe, but I don't think we are that far away from getting the right seventeen on the field, in the right positions. I can definitely still see us finishing top four at the end of the season.

Good luck with that @Under the Sticks Way too many negative pessimists on this site, to get "the positive vibes" happening consistently. I swear some of the Silvertails Manly "fans" on here are only truly happy when we lose. If we lose by plenty, even better .....

Agree....read some of Soups comments lately, said our win was..putrid !! after a hard fought win, astounding...

Sometimes teams take things for granted and assume that they will perform to the same ability as a previous year.

Manly are their own worst enemies right now and the tactics are a big reason. We play dry weather footy when the game plan needs to be modified.

We rely on 3 or 4 players to get the job done. We have not sorted out what to do about the gaping hole we have in the hooker position.

What I have seen especially is we are not working hard enough with and without the ball. It is early in the season and we need to see a significant lift in intensity.

Its not all doom and gloom its only round 4 and there is time to get this right. We badly need Schuster in the team as his creativity takes the heat off our halves and Aloia will add some grunt to the middle.

We have a weakness right now on our right side defence. We looked so inept at dealing with attacking kicks and this has to improve as giving up repeat sets to better sides will really mean we get punished.

Lets hope we see more intensity this week and we come away with a good win!

I have no doubt well get back to our best, a couple of losses then the team will get into gear and we will be sprinting towards the top of the ladder.
Seriously, some of the people on here have no faith in our team, in our coach or in our players. We have all the skill and talent necessary in the squad, all they need is a bit hope and confidence, and we will win.

100% Agreed. As well as the assumption that these guys think success will come purely based on last year, the bottom teams have improved dramatically in roster (maybe not tigers & warroirs). This team won't come close to top 4 this year. Everyone's well and truly on to Tom too

Better than the first 4 rounds last year but a long way back from our form from rounds 5 onward. That should be the comparison. Improvement needs to be constant not 4 steps forward and 3 steps back. Hopefully a dry track will help the boys this weekend.
