All our injuries have happened to forwards. Co-incidence? Or a training misstep?

Burbo is only 20, I'm a bit bemused at those writing him off. Physically he will obviously get a lot stronger as he matures, and how far he goes in the game could come down to his attitude and desire.

Will be very interesting to see who is pitted against Kikau in round 1 but if its Burbo then I think he'll give a good account.
Agreed are far two quick to write players off.

G Stewart came on very late, C Walker didnt debut till he was 26.

Hughes bounced around a few clubs before he kicked on B Smith was let go by the cowboys.

Players like Turbo are still on the Improve

Olakau'atu, Schuster, Paseka, Keppie, Saab still have acres of growth to come.

So those saying yay or nay about Burbo, Koula, Bullemor, Weekes etc are on the silly side of things IMO

I see today one of the journos saying some of our boys aren't happy with the old school training methods and subsequent injuries.

A taste of a bigger story to follow tomorrow perhaps.

Didn’t this get tossed around when Curtis Sironen was leaving? His dad was fuming at how he was treated when he had a knee injury. Anyway, it got swept under the rug at the time and some of the medical staff moved on.

I remember the Sironen one. MANLY have appeared to make a habit of bringing players back that bit too early too.

Might be interesting to see if that's the direction this current discontent of old school methods at MANLY training is all about.

The modern game needs a modern approach. Fail to evolve you fall off the pace. Old school is not necessarily optimal anymore.

According to the media, the Broncos players have been complaining about their training too so it maybe just that time of the year where journos are struggling to find stories prior to season start.

Old school methods are way too time-consuming; not enough time to order in a pizza and sit around with your mates in front of the PlayStation. Or check your influencer status on Instagram or Facebook; or upload your latest Tic Tock video, featuring the newest in gang signs or dance steps or miming to hip hop tracks.

Lots of other things the modern RL player needs to do and consider - coaches need to recognize this.

In Sirro's case dh, he had two major injury stints on the side lines, followed up with other shorter injury stints. Manly went above and beyond in supporting Curtis during his prolonged time out of the game. And for his old man to come out and bag Manly for not treating his son right, wow.. astonishing !!

Not to forget his time at the Tigers was punctuated with countless injuries.

Reading it again mole is really implying Manly's old school training caused Schoeys injury? Is he not?
Not sure he’s directly implying that, but he’s thrown it out there just to suck in those that are easily outraged and don’t bother doing any research into the situation. He had Paul Sironen in his ear last year, whinging about Curtis’ “treatment”
Like just about every professional team in any sport around the world, there’s going to be situations where the coaches and medical staff are going to push players to the brink.Given the times we live in,if anything untoward went down, you’re going to have more than just one parent with a history of having shots at his son’s former clubs, coming out and demanding answers

Do we really believe in this day and age we would be using old school fitness and training techniques? What does that even mean? 25 times round the oval and 50 pushups?

Perhaps I'm wrong but Des has always appeared to push the boundaries of new techniques in fitness and recovery so I can't see why he's now considered a dinosaur? Calves blood anyone?

I get what your saying.

Equally I still think there is something here for the club to take on board, which would be a positive for the club in the long run.

Certainly my observations (and for too many years as well to all be bad judgement) our players just appeared to return from injury that week or two too soon.

Let's be honest, a clubs depth is a huge factor in professional sport as well. A club like the Roosters don't need a player to play who is 50/50, the pressure is on at Manly because our squad competitive depth usually doesn't go a long as other clubs. We aren't the only club who take the risk, but ours seem to come back and bite.

Yesterday's story is a little more concerning than Siros though, Shoey isn't a former player for one.

Siro had other reasons to be pissed at the club and have a whinge to the media, the club didn't retain him, he wasn't happy about small minutes he got, which no doubt impacts the size of, or even being offered another contract.

I don't know how Schoey got injured or what was old school about it.

But it sure would seem someone must have made some noise about it.
