Bank rejects man who sounds like woman

A MAN with a feminine-sounding voice is considering legal action for sex discrimination and inconvenience after bank staff repeatedly blocked his telebanking account because they thought he was a woman.

Graham O'Brien - a lecturer with a high-pitched voice - was marked as a "suspect customer" by Halifax Bank after he called to check whether his salary had been paid, Metro.co.uk reported.

He was told he had to visit a local branch in Manchester to prove that he was a man.

Staff reinstated his account, but then made the same mistake again four days after.

Mr O'Brien, 29, said the experience had left him feeling "humiliated and alienated".

'I have had a letter from my local branch apologising but I have made an official complaint and intend to take it further," he said.
