THE Sea Eagles have called on the expertise of Manly Wolves premiership coach Leigh Brain to give them an advantage on the field this year.

Geoff Toovey followed the remarkable success of the Wolves in their maiden season last year in the Sydney Premier AFL Division via the Manly Daily and figured a fresh voice would motivate his troops during pre-season.

Brain has attended a couple of sessions at Narrabeen and was humbled to rub shoulders with the likes of Toovey, Andrew Johns and Dave Penna.

"It was a great honour, especially given I am a long term Manly fan,'' Brain said.

"I guess I offer a different perspective from a different code.

"We have worked on things like body positioning and how to attack the ball.

"The guys responded well to it, and we hope to get a few of their guys down to Weldon Oval when they are free to pick their brains on a few things."

Penna revealed it has been a fruitful partnership.

"Tooves was pretty impressed with the results the Wolves achieved last year and obviously Leigh was a big part of their success,'' he said.

"He is very articulate and saw a few things we probably don't see given our collective rugby league backgrounds.

"NRL clubs are always looking for new ways to keep the boys stimulated and we are no different."

Interesting and actually a really good angle to take, the result of Wolfie on the wing in the GF against whatever his name is showed we can do with any advantage we can get

Brain has the smarts to help our guys out!

[If he teaches them to leap then the media can spend the next 10 years going ga ga over any one of our guys who jump more than 3 cm's off the ground to take a ball - ala melbourne storm style]

New perspective and an open mind has 2v rocketing up the Coaching ranks.

Our Team will be soaring like Sea Eagles in no time ! Long range field goals and flying Wingers, what a season to look forward to :)

Great to hear that Leigh is also a Manly Supporter :)

All defending wingers should do against these Roosters basketballers is just feign an attempt to contest the ball and instead just muck it up enough to knock them out of the contest. Or learn to jump for the ball with one knee jutting out forward the way Wombat always did. The opposing wingers will soon get tired of it. Five seconds on google turned up all you need to see.

Or do what Slater does and kick his leg out. Who cares if the foot inadvertently kicks some opposition player in the head or body. The precent was made by Slater.

and if that does happen then it's a penalty to the Storm as the attacking player has attacked the legs of the fullback whilst he is still in the air.

Great move. Jorge needs a little work taking a contested mark. Seems to always have his eyes on the opposition and not the ball.

So, I wonder how long it will take for journo's to again liken us to the Storm for this? The Storm have been doing this for years.
