attacking with defence

Spot on. This defence was very reminiscent of the golden era. I used to love hearing the commentators say 'here we go, manly making metres with their defence!' Tonight they did that. One set the riff made 14m........just unbelievable.

They hunted as a pack, and the leader of thst pack was Jake. There are going to be a few riff players waking up feeling like they were hit by a Jake Truck.

Trent i focus on our defence in video session. This us what wins finals games.

We found the key, attacking in defence is the key! It was the best to see, so reminiscent of the way the manly of old would play. That's the way, the thing with this side is that no one can stop us but ourselves. If we have the will to carry this attitude through the finals we are every chance

Embarrassed by some poor recent efforts - credit where it's due ....set the platform early with hits in numbers and loved the outside /in defence of both Walker and Kelly.
Contact and stuck
Long as the wingers work with these boys, will work in an aggressive central defensive pattern with only Cronk to worry this shape with his presice EARLY kick to his wingers.

The aggressive defense was like our last great team. High on energy and outstanding scramble. To keep a team as good with the ball as the Riff are to 12 points and for 75 minutes zilch speaks volumes for the commitment we saw out there tonight. Our young team took a big step forward tonight.

What I also liked was kelly making decisions. In previous games he'd hang off and hope for a mistake or be too much on the back foot, not tonight.

Actually at one point I think it was Tamou held up by 3 others and he came over about 10 metres to whack him to the ground. LOVE that attitude.

Today we played like we did against the Raiders at GIO.

If we have problems defending our line, keep the ball away from the buggers.:wait:
How many line drop outs did we get, how many scrums in their 20 did we get?

Gave Manly a margin of error that they controlled for 76 minutes.

Simple game plan with the kickers that we have, even Walks got us a line drop out in the first half

The spray from Chez after the Riff's tries was a first - he was yelling at his Team, like he should :swear::tmi::clap:

Our second row covered a lot of ground in defence. I saw both Frank and Siro make tackles in the middle then run back to support the edges. Frank in particular supported very well.

We have done it several times this year.
Just inexperience has caused us to lose our way at times.
But we seem to be back and focused.
We are in the finals !!
Yeah baby !!!
