Are they the fittest ever, yet?

I am getting worried, only a month until the season starts and I still haven't heard any "we're the fittest we've ever been" or "best pre-season" quotes from anyone at the club. Has anyone seen anything yet?

You've answered your own question - there's a month to go! If it was a week, your worry would be justified, but the quotes will come... Don't stress lol

Yeah nah the boys have been training well so hopefully that'll reflect on the field.
Yeah nah to be honest we'll just take it one game at a time.
Yeah nah it's not panic stations yet.

From the email today

"Our boys have a had a first class preparation to date. They can’t wait to pull on the famous Manly Sea Eagles jersey and represent you with pride and passion this year."

They must've read the forum.

No surely the benchmark is the bench press.
The time trial is for cross country types hoping to be considered for emergency replacement!

To those last two points...DCE alm ost always wins the 2km trial...leading by example! And if I recall correctly, Kieran Foran was always the strongest when considering strength-to-weight ratio (Back in the day). Think he had a 135kg bench, possibly?

Edit - found An article from 2016 - apparently Foran’s bench is closer to 180kg!

I know Croker knocked off DCE at least once over the last couple of years.

If we are not the fittest ever ... we must have learnt nothing from being towelled up last year as soon as the new rules kicked in ...

Still waiting for the "fittest ever" quote ..... haven't heard much? Has anyone else?

The 6 agains on repeat screw the fitness of whichever team they go against.

We’ll see it again ( constantly ) and you can almost guarantee how game 1 for us will go.

In the first 20 we will be crucified by 6 again calls as we try anything to stay in the game , the more pressure that comes the more we give away.

I’d expect it to be 24-0 after 20 minutes, and whilst there will be a bit of “ return serve based on possession “ the game has effectively been awarded to the team ( in this case the Rorters ) getting all those 6 agains as no team can recover , even if they are the fittest around.

The game now is controlled not by who has the best team rather than by the referee who grants possession at his whim.
