De Belin, who played State of Origin for NSW in 2018, is believed to have attended the police station having been made aware that detectives wanted to speak to him as part of an investigation.

More to come

NRL need to dock their pay once they're convicted. Players sitting out their suspensions on full pay is no deterrent

It's beyond ridiculous that the many and costly behavioural courses that the NRL put on is just a waste on these numbnuts :banghead:

NRL star Jack De Belin arrested by Wollongong police

St George Illawarra star Jack De Belin is the latest rugby league player to be under police investigation for an alleged incident on the weekend.

It is understood De Belin is at Wollongong police station this afternoon where he is being quizzed by police about an incident in Wollongong on Sunday.

He is yet to be charged. The 27-year-old starred for St George Illawarra this year, going on to make his NSW debut in State of Origin.

He featured in all three games for the Blues, breaking down when NSW clinched the series in game two.

De Belin’s long term partner Alyce Taylor took to Instagram recently to announce she is pregnant with the couple’s first child. Her social media profile has since been deleted.

The NRL confirmed on Thursday that the Dragons reported an incident to the NRL Integrity Unit involving Jack De Belin earlier this week.

It is yet another concern for rugby league in a week which has already seen Jarryd Hayne and Dylan Walker plead not guilty to separate domestic violence charges.

Wests Tigers recruit Zane Musgrove and Penrith lower grade Liam Coleman have also been charged over an assault of a 22-year-old woman at the Coogee Bay Hotel last month.

The men were granted conditional bail to appear at Waverly Local Court on January 23.

Walker will return to court on Tuesday while Hayne’s next appearance is in Newcastle on February 13.

Wow. Just wow. How fuked has rugby league become. A few bad eggs giving the game massive black eyes. The nrl needs to ban for life anyone guilty of domestic or sexual violence or assault against anyone.

Might be time to shut the game down for a year. In that year, the NRL goes through every clubs books as thoroughly as they did ours. Any official found guilty of fiddling goes. In that same year, any player who comes into trouble with the law goes as well. My interest in rugby league is fast catching up to the zero interest I have in cricket.Time for new interests.

Really, it's quite simple... what we have here is a profound imbalance between testosterone and brains.

A group sex culture, has permeated throughout the NRL and other elite men’s sporting competitions for decades. It really is disturbing.
That is true, touring kangaroo side from the 70s and 80s were apparently involved in such during those tours.

Unfortunately the “few bad eggs” seem to be increasing each year

Jarryd Hayne’s is hardly a domestic violence charge!

Police said de Belin was at a Wollongong nightclub in the early hours of Sunday with a group of people he knew before he, the 19-year-old woman who made the complaint and another man left.

The woman told police that after she left the Crown St nightclub she tried to hail an Uber but couldn’t.

She said she, de Belin and the other man then caught a taxi and she believed they were going to another nightclub but they went to a unit in Wollongong’s CBD about 1.30am.

It is alleged the players said they needed to get changed and she accompanied them into the unit to use the toilet.

The woman told police that when she came out of the toilet she was assaulted.

Afterwards she showered, told a friend what had allegedly happened and went to a local hospital for treatment.

On Monday, De Belin made St George Illawarra aware that a potential incident has emerged.

Police will allege the incident took place in the presence of the other man, who is not an NRL level rugby league player.

A police source said that player was yet to be questioned over his role.

The Daily Telegraph has learnt De Belin’s teammate Jai Field could be a key witness, as he spent time with the woman earlier in the evening.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Field and he is not under police investigation.

St George Illawarra are not expected to stand down De Belin until the outcome of the court case is determined.

He has told club officials he will vehemently fight the charges.

The Dragons this afternoon put out a statement on the matter.

“The club is taking the matter very seriously and have been working with Jack and all relevant authorities, including the police and the NRL integrity unit, since this time,” the statement read.

“Jack has been provided with welfare support to enable him the time and opportunity to deal with the matter.

“As this is a police matter to be considered by the court, the club is not in a position to make any further comment.”
