Aloiai and Olakuatu - New leaders of the pack ?

Been waiting for a while when tough games hit tipping points and the opposition had forwards to swing the momentum in their favour with extra determination and contacts leading to controlling the tempo of the game through the ruck....while we seemed to lack the grunt when push came to shove.
Young monster backrower Olakuatu has had moments almost on his own trying to lift a Manly pack as such a youngster for a while now, when we were being bustled by physical opposition, but as an edge forward, this is not an easy task and needs middle men to add the muscle in the guts....
Enter Aloiai....his presence has been Massive the past few weeks and though dwindled away in 2021 after a promising start, his form today is EXACTLY what was needed to add steel where we were most lacking - that middle 3rd.
It's not just his powerful charges bending the line and his rugged defence, it's the fact he has been doing everything with energy and determination winning the tempo for Manly playmakers to play off and not simply going through the motions, which is a bad habit this Manly pack has been guilty of, particularly in the big games when the tougher opposition go's to another level....Aloiai has raised the bar and this has 100% had a positive effect the rest of the pack is feeding off.
As for the young juggernaut in Olakuatu, is hitting harder and showing his power more every game, adding aggression and a bloke who is a legitimate X factor game changing backrower....could become anything in coming years.
Anyways - at a time when we were crying out for leaders, I feel we have 2 blokes that have stepped up and taken the bull by the horns, in what could be the Biggest growth for Manly in 2022 imo.

Yes - but I still believe Keppie has a lot to say about that also. Aloiai is prone to a suspension or 10 so we need someone else to grab the game by the scruff and say, come with me guys. Keppie is that man in my view

Very true Keppie has the ingredients, if he loses the penalties and errors can be a forceful middle man....I know he hits like a Mac truck in defence, just feel it's the energy of Aloiai and Guoc who really set the energy tempo and inspire the team in recent games.....giving that LIFT we need across the entire team.....but personally a Keppie fan also, he has players looking when running his direction

Guac, Keppie and Paseka are the future ... All hail Guac, Keppie and Paseka..

Hundred percent. They are our mongrel leaders atm. We've been talking about needing one ever since AFB left and now we got TWO. And I believe Nella will join them soon, his game is improving with the addition of Aloiai, he's bouncing off the energy and has been superb in the last two games. They are our future for sure. We probably can have one of the best and scariest in the comp if those boys keep going on that upward trajectory.

Then add Kelma next year, and hopefully see Tuitavake soon. We are in very good hands.

Also, a lot of us thought Keppie can become a pack leader after his performance in last year's semi vs Roosters. That was next level and very inspiring. But Sean has flaws with consistency and also a non-threatening running game. He is aggressive in defence and chops blokes in half but he doesn't mirror that in attack. He runs slow and rarely bends the line. Something he needs to work on along with being able to keep that intensity week in and week out and he can be a big part of our pack as well. So far this year has been underwhelming.

I think he could do with a reserves stint

Agree. Paseka can be a huge influence if he's in the right frame of mind. Him and Guac need to look at the way the entire penrith team hit the ball up. Right down to little Charlie Staines. That guy hits the line at 100 miles an hour and bends back even large forwards!! He can't be more than 85-90kgs. Get blokes like Guac and Paseka hitting the line as hard as they can and you won't stop them - e.g. AD on the weekend running a great line for his try. I don't know if its that the two of them aren't fit enough yet or what it is, but they seem to get the ball standing still most of the time. And even then they manage to break a tackle or two. Hit it HARD and see how many you break.

I thought Tent had his best game of the season on Thursday, looking for him to build on that and with Marty having a niggle he gets his chance to start, I think he is the future leader of the pack.

It's 100% coaching .. our attacking patterns and structures are run and rehearsed ad nauseam all off season and every week ...

And from what I have seen for 3 years none of it involves 2 forwards hitting the ball up at pace from the advantage line one after the other in any attempt at a power game ..

Hopefully that has changed slightly the past 2 weeks and will continue to change

Sad that Oshay will be out for probably the next two weeks. Especially when we have two big tests coming up. He hasn't had a solid run of form in abundance with us yet, hope this is the last of his injuries. And he can be back for Parra Storm back to back come Round 11. That's where our biggest tests of the season so far will be so probably going to need our strongest side.
