Okay I know this is generally an off season topic but I cant think of Manlys form atm and to be honest I had a brownie and feel quite chill and reflective.
So I'm compiling my perfect team.
The rules are
*No current Manly players
*5 top tier players - Teddy, Ponga, Pappy, Taumalolo, Cleary, Haas, Munster etc etc
*7 mid tier players - Gutho, Api, Croker, Tino, Klemmer, Reynolds etc
*5 Rookies/inexperienced players- professional benchies-journeymen or last legs veterans - Suali, Walker, Hoy, Utoikamanu or Havalli or C Thompson or Benji etc
Now obviously the above is a guide, but basically just avoiding go the 17 best players in the league.
Would love to hear people reasoning on talent, leadership qualities, potential, injury history etc....or maybe just you like these players.
For mine the 5 stars I'd base my team around are Teddy, Cleary, Fifita, Papallli and Grant.....I nearly went Lolo over Pap but Pap seems that player who others want to follow
The 5 at the lower end ones are rookies Riki, Otuikamanu and Suali, Watson who I'm class as a professionally benchie...Best and Brown are pusing inexperience but meh
1.Teddy -currently the best player in the world, pretty much the all round package
2.To'o - yardage is the thing I'm looking for here, To'o helps start every strong, not to mention his youth, potential, finishing ability and speed.
3.Best-Young and powerful. Injury history a worry but bit potential. Crichton close here
4.Croker-Club leader, consistent, help build a culture. Goal kinking a bonus, experienced and good defender
5.Suali-I mean.......the hype
6.Brown-Potenial, flair, enthusiam with a pinch of arrogance.
7.Cleary-Can stear the team around, defend, kick and make big plays himself-best halfback in the league
8.Papalli-Other players seem to want to follow him in the battle, big game player
9.Grant-Next long term Kangaroos hooker
10.Fisher-Harris-the prototype for the new rules prop (would have gone Hass but would consider him top tier and JFH offers experience). Can play big minutes
11.Bateman- Brings the mongrel to the team, can cover centre if needed and can play 80
12.Fifita-X Factor, game breaker
13.Tino- potential to be one of the best forwatds in the game
14.Watson-offers spark and amazing versatility covering 5/8, Hooker, Lock, 5/8
15.Riki-A tackle buster off the bench. Young, high potential and seems a great attitude
16.Welch - Culture, Welch is just that good guy type you want around the club. Good player and reckon good influence on others. Can tackle everything and a workhorse to counteract the young explosive guys into Fifita, Eiki and Tino
17.Utoikamanu-all on potential
Anyway.........don't know why I typed all this......
