Manly has 24 players off contract at the end of this season. That means every single player is on notice with the exception of the below who are contracted beyond 2018:

DCE, Jake T, Tom T, Taupau, Fonua-Blake, Elgey

This fact and the salary cap penalty being lifted next year we will have an absolute war chest to buy players.

Only problem no one of note is off contract at all.

There are plenty

Backs

Sosaia Feki, George Jennings, Jordan Rapana, Corey Oates, Brenko Lee, Jai Field, Clint Gutherson, Bevan French, Jordan Kahu, Gideon Mosby-Gela, Josh Hoffman, Michael Gordon,

Forwards

George Burgess, Jeremy Lattimore, Joe Ofahengaue, Peni Terepo, Manu Maú, Tepai Moreoa, Tevita Pengai Jr, Alex Glenn, Ethan Lowe, Rhyse Martin.

It will be the first year we should be able to field a full salary cap since Tooves

Some of our young guns will be stepping into the top 30 squad, namely Hopoate, Metcalfe, Titmuss.
The other thing is that contracts don’t mean much, Walker, Kelly, Thompson and Taupau were under contract when we signed them.

Hoppa is already in the top 30

Some handy players there that would add a bit, but only 3 that excite to really lift the side in Oates, Rapana and Pengai Jnr.
The fact these are the players off contract can be misleading, as 80% of players signed these days do the unhappy at club stunt and get out anyways....the issue we have is would need a competitive season to lure those away to a team with good future prospects.
Then we also have some options from England with 1 forward in particular a chance to be here in 2020.

No doubt that young Josh Schuster and Hopoate would be amoung the main priority signings ,for approaching seasons . Be good if guys like Garrick , Suli , Waddell and even Anderson can show something worthwhile this year and then to ideally retain . Then there are a couple of more younger development players or main group players such as Olakauatu , Metcalfe and Cust who should be handy to still have on the books going forward . . Admittedly can not entirely rely on a high proportion of rookies to get the job done in future seasons but may not have to look outside the club for foo many new recruits if most of this current talented young group of players do measure up in the short term , Maybe one young player to keep an eye on is Kerrod ? Weekes from the Manly lower grades , already a junior N S W state rep as a 6 and apparently playing full back , Obviously not in the Schuster or Hopoate class but a promising young and versatile Manly junior .

Hi, ahh...l’ll take 1 x Jordan Rapana, 1 x Corey Oates and...let’s see... 1 x Tevita Pengai Jr - can you make that to go?

So players allegedly off contract this year -

Anderson, Jade
Croker, Lachlan
Cust, Cade
Fainu, Manase
Funa, Tevita
Garrick, Reuben
Gosiewski, Jack
Hodkinson, Trent
Hopoate, Albert
Kioa, Semisi
Olakau'atu, Haumole
Parker, Brad
Perrett, Lloyd
Sipley, Toff
Tanginoa, Kelepi
Taufua, Jorge
Thompson, Joel
Walker, Dylan

I say allegedly because there is very little information published on contracts for the young guys and development players - some of those guys could be on deals past this year but only the club and they would know that.

Talk of a major rebuilding phase is a nonsense .... we have had our cleanout .... we have had our rebuild ... we have the youngest squad in the history of the Manly Sea Eagles ...

Apart from a couple of astute major imports .... our future will come from the capable hands of the following youngsters ..

Paseka
Suli
Anderson, Jade
Croker, Lachlan
Cust, Cade
Fainu, Manase
Funa, Tevita
Garrick, Reuben
Gosiewski, Jack
Hopoate, Albert
Kioa, Semisi
Olakau'atu, Haumole
Parker, Brad
Sipley, Toff
Tanginoa, Kelep
Corey Waddell
Schuster
Metcalf
Turbo the 3rd

And AFB who is only 23 ...

Edit ... I forgot to add the now that we have a good coach .. but seriously we do now have the coaching team and resources to really mentor and get the best out of this very talented group of up and comers ..

You're wrong mate. Sure they may have been unwanted, but the fact remains they were under contract and were all released.
Taupau was under contract with the Tigers, but they released him.
Walker was under contract with Souths, but they released him.
Kelly was under contract and the Titans released him a year early.
Thompson was under contract and the Dragons released him.
