2025 recruitment & retention

Would look good in maroon and white 🦅

Knights forward weighing up bombshell contract call

He could test the free market from November 1.

Newcastle Knights forward Leo Thompsonis reportedly weighing up testing the open market from November 1.

The young gun, who can play at either lock or prop, has been one of the bright spots for the Knights ever since he debuted, and has been in fine form again throughout the 2024 campaign despite the club's overall struggles.

They are struggles which could cost Adam O'Brien his job, or at the very least, force him into a position where he will be coaching for it next season.

And the issues at the Knights aren't about to go anywhere.

It's well known the club have big salary cap issues, with Daniel Saifiti being given the tap on the shoulder mid-season.

The former New South Wales State of Origin prop was originally linked with the St George Illawarra Dragons, but now it appears he will sign with the Dolphins for the 2025 season and beyond, with the Knights chipping in a portion of his salary

Too good for us. Not a reject needing a nrl lifeline and not a isaac moses client.

Anyone with some background on Jazz. Obviously know who he is but just never really took enough notice what type of player he is.

Can’t say I’m thrilled about it, he is a player that is full of passion which is great, but is prone to brain explosions and poor handling. Last season for the Warriors, he and Walker were very good off the bench

He definitely can have something to offer, good body shape for the current forward and is very willing, so if we can sort out those rough edges above, we could have something good on our hands, but I struggle to see it

We don’t want him filling in at hooker, very ordinary there

Tuitavake on the bench for Dragons reggies. No Fifita in either FG or reggies, this week, can’t find whether he’s injured or suspended. And that is this week’s Tuitavake and Fifita update
Maybe both have lost interest after moving to the Dragons? Maybe both wanted to stay?

So much for all the clamor about losing these two, especially Fifita. Looks like we made good call.
I’m not going to write off Fifita just yet,but given the clubs situation and the likelihood his manager would have been looking for an upgrade,I believe the right decision was made

That's the thing, the club needed to play hard ball with Tartak to stop him from holding us to ransom every five minutes. I'm comfortable with any decision that minimises the amount of influence that prick has with our salary cap.
