hopefully DCE retires so we can start moving in a new direction.
The Durable DCE is Injury free and has been consistently performing at a high level throughout his Premiership winning and his representative career

Retire DCE and we wont Retain the experience needed to build a premiership winning team
Brooks is not the answer and neither are any other halves that are currently available on the market

Hopefully we can retire Seibold and move in a new diction because we wont win a premiership with a wooden spoon coach

You replied to my previous post about Manly Not going to win a premiership with a wooden spoon coach like Seibold
And you said Seibold did better than the coaches this year that failed to produce

The moral of your story is
You are comparing a failure with failures

Our benchmark is Winning Premierships
and Unless we raise our mediocre mindset and standards and compare our selves with the Premiership Kings
We will continue to be Premiership Pawns

I agree about the Panthers dynasty bozo, but I feel it's FAR more than Seibold that has Manly "A long way off" this lofty standard, as an example, do you feel if Manly had Ivan Cleary as the coach for the past 4 years we would have Won the past 4 Premierships, because I reckon we would have finished in similar positions on the ladder....unless he bought Nathan Cleary, Liam Martin and To'o over also....

Exactly , Cleary is a great coach , but let’s be honest he’s had a stellar bunch of players to win 4 in a row , and look at the ones that are now playing elsewhere!!

To the above list add Yeo ( could have easily won the Clive Churchill ) and Fisher Harris.

And remember , most of these players have been playing together since they were 5.

It’s not just Cleary ( he just got lucky ) it’s the whole system.

We all want a premiership BUT don't forget we have the smallest budget of any team in the NRL and that won't change in the short term unless our owner decides to pull up stumps. Simple as that !

I think Cleary is a good coach and he did reasonably well at the Warriors and Tigers before his two stints at Penrith. I think he's one of those coaches who develops his team over time, not one for the instant success. I would rate him third behind Bellamy and Bennett. He is fortunate that he has such a huge junior resource though and unlike the Eels, he manages to keep most of the best talent rather than bring in lots of outsiders and lose juniors. Manly doesn't have that luxury, which is why I felt the retention committee of the past decade was dysfunctional. The Penrith team has strength across the board and unlike at Manly losing a star like Nathan Cleary for large amount of the season didn't disrupt their progress. When we lose Turbo it is a major disruption. If we had lost DCE it would be just as damaging. However, if Seibold can get Manly's defense corrected, this could be a very good side they have at present.

Gutherson can barely run; he'd be a crazy signing for Manly. It makes sense for Saints because they are not really in a premiership window (not that we really are either but they're clearly in a rebuild) and could do with an experienced competitor to drive standards on and off the field.

Probably too late to grab him back now. Gee we could have used him a few years back. No where to fit him now.
King without a Kingdom? Emperor without a throne?

Ask Louis XVI and Nicholas II how that worked out.....

Cleary has 6 grand final appearances in 13 years, he certainly can coach.

Would absolutely sign him for 500k per year for 3 years.

Surely we have that money.
I was hoping we'd have a go at him but I don't know that we would have fitted him under the cap, he's just signed for 3 years with the tits so that’s that

Agree , to an extent , but he’s had the benefit of a side at the peak of their powers ( to date ) with the Warriors ( some great players at the time ) AND he’s been bloody lucky to inherit the Phil Gould “ 5 year rebuild “ with all those players who came through the junior systems out west together all peaking at the same time. And adding one of the best number 7’s we’ve seen in the game ( his son).

Can coach, yes , but he had been lucky

To win a GF we need to add,
We need a hooker like Harry Grant , Api K.
We need a lock like Isaia Yeo or Cam Murray
We need an edge like Liam Martin, Victor Radley
We need another prop like JFH, AFB or Leniu
If you’re saying we need a player of that calibre in all those slots we’d be about $4-$5mil over the salary cap.

Dont think there are many "unlucky" good coaches. @:D Bellamy is the standout as he creates dynasties, just doesn't walk into one. Look at the cattle Sheens had at Canberra, Gibson at Parra and Bennett at Broncos

I didn’t say he wasn’t a good coach rather he simply “ got lucky “ at both clubs where the dynasty had already been built or was well on the way.

He deserves great credit for keeping them at the top level even after so many left , and I think that’ll continue next year , they’ll replace Fish & Romie with the next biggest thing coming through from a cast of thousands wanting to play for them.BUT is that because he’s the greatest coach or more the enormous quality of players in their juniors / reserves.
