PROP HOLDS MANLY TO RANSOM

Tongan Test star Siosiua Taukeiaho’s rumoured move to Manly has collapsed after a dispute over his contract value.

The Sea Eagles were keen on signing Taukeiaho for next season but it’s understood the former Roosters premiership prop was seeking around $500,000 a season.

Manly could not afford that figure under the salary cap and have walked away from the deal, leaving the goalkicking prop in limbo.

Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo remains interested in signing the 32-year-old bookend, who is keen to return to the NRL after an injury-plagued stint at French club Catalans Dragons.

Taukeiaho was due to turn out for Canterbury this season, only for the deal to fall through after he failed a medical.

In the tele paywalled.

Good to see we are wheeling and dealing.

Takiahoe has been a great forward in his day.

Let's put this into perspective. Last played NRL in 2022. Will be 3 years ago when next season kicks off.

Failed a medical at the start of this season to play with the bulldogs.

Than Sacked before he played a game in the UK for missing training to go to a music concert this year.

At $500k. Yeah Nah.

Good that the club refused to pay that much for him,but the worry was that someone actually contemplated the idea of signing him

At a price he’d be ok , it’s a bit like us offering Lodge $300k for two years , it’s unders but he’s hardly been able to play for his two years to date so that’s about what he’s worth.

He was cooked when he left the roosters.
He has not gotten any better, him wanting $500K is ridiculous for his ability,I struggle to think why anyone at our club would be after him.
Don't think I would want him for $150K,you have someone like Moeroa who is younger, more talented, less injuries and we entertain a guy with so many red flags.

I believe if Garrick wishes to continue to pursue centre as his preferred position then he should do it at another club next year!

We need to find a permanent position for lehi next year & talau has been amazing. Lehi to eventually take the #1 in time:

1. Turbo
2. Lehi
3. Koula
4. Talau
5. Saab
Spot on, I’m also having doubts of SAAB holding the wing position. I thought the young winger that played a few games did exceptionally well.

We could do with some space in the cap also
Most definitely, looking at the backline there is a large percentage of the cap tied up with the halves, Turbo, Koula and Garrick, to balance the squad there is a need for two edge forwards and a prop, the 650K Garrick is on can be used in other positions with the current depth and junior talent to cover for injuries and representative games.

MW: Here's a contract.
ST: I want more.
MW: Nah.

So, I read we have recruited a prop/second rower from the "boys by the name of D'Jazirhae Pua'Avase...
No, I didn't suffer a spasm whilst typing his name.
Any idea how you pronounce his name?
I think if I write about him at any time in the future I'll be calling him Alpha
a short form of Alphabet.

Not really but if he's any good we'll all learn it pretty easily, I reckon. I recall in the 90s i had no idea how Hopoate was pronounced, now most people can say olakauatu or even fassuema (yeah I can;'t spell that one yet) without getting stressed out.
My guess at his 1st name ... Ju-zi-ray-uh
(with apologies to him) but hopefully he's quickly a star and then we'll find out @:D
