I actually think it's because our club didn't think he was that good.
He's considered there and there abouts but nothing exceptional.
And push comes to shove, keep one of GCKT or him, who knows if that his choice to go was his or the club. But even the year before Manly only gave him a 1 year contact perhaps.

Agreed, I think its been obvious for a while the club weren't hugely into him

NO way Gordon Tallis says Kevvies the man...@:D@:D@:D
There seems to be a protection racket going on at Red Hill and Gordy Tallis seems to be heading it up. Balin and Carty have moved on to greener pastures. Now it's Kevvie and the perennial assistant, Trenty in the coach's box, I can hear scratching sounds already, the undermining has started.

Well mate, he fits all the criteria for us at the moment. He is an old journeyman, has played for the Tigers and we need to replace Aaron Woods. FMD, he is the last thing we need at the moment.
I’m seeing articles all the time about the 3 guys below but nothing confirmed.

I'm still hopeful we will get a speedy edge. An injury or two in that position next year. It's a problem position.
Definitely need another two edge forwards in the squad, with the loss of Schuster, Lawton and Parker.

Been very lucky to get a few good games on the left edge out of Ben T and Waddell but they haven’t nailed it down despite the opportunities given.

Dion, were Parker and Schuster ever a good edge forward? WE need some ooh Aah signings...a couple of guns. Everyone else can get them, I don't understand why we cant.

Schuster had one good season on the left edge, his defence could have been better, Parker the transition to backrow didn’t work.

As this season has gone on there have been 4 different options used on the left edge in Lawton, Ben T, Waddell and Bully, in my view these have been band aid options, need a decent edge forward and a promising younger edge forward I think to balance the squad.

I don’t think there is too much coin the cap to sign a couple of guns unless they let someone go who is on decent coin.

Agree mate with all that. The only thing I cant follow is why, Manly, cant buy any gun players, yet every other club can. It just amazes me how far we are behind the recruitment game. And I think it shows

Maths is your friend.

We have invested heavily in the few, and need to play moneyball with the many. One could argue the few take up too much cap.

Every other club is not buying guns either, except the usual suspect from Bondi way.

We have followed the Storm model of paying big money to 3 or 4 guys - usually in the spine.

To be fair most clubs generally do.

Some just do it better than others.

Or is it as simple as the game is all about Third Party deals these days.

Manly and Canberra and all the teams without that significant third party investments can just watch on.

As next year the Sharks get stronger.
Storm get stronger. Broncos buy more. Roosters haven't even announced their signing spree yet. Panthers prob do have more outs than in but they have bought well. Souths will sign plenty. Bulldogs will continue to recruit players from the 3 teams that have won a comp in the last decade.

Mean while Manly's search just to have a starting back rower since the shoe was released on compassionate grounds, shows little signs of being filled, never mind taken up by someone of note.

How is your maths then.... Who was the last gun player we bought???... when have we bought a game changer.....Forget about the money tied up with the T Brothers, every club has those players (+ some), Mr Penn has let this club stew. Yes we are in the final 8, out of 17, but even Trent got us to that.

Humphreys is great, he’ll do well at Souths. But with Dce keeping on playing and brooks, he was behind.

Ilias may come to manly. I wouldn't be too upset about this, he can pass and kick well. And Jake Arthur will recover and be a contributor. Depth pretty good.

I think Chee kam has had it, it would be ridiculous to sign him.
