Broncos looking for another spoon

Comedy gold on tonight’s Seven News. Barrett demanding respect be paid to Gutho (by the incoming regime), whose future is under a cloud at the Eels, with a permanent move to the centres on the cards.

Trent must think Manly fans have forgotten how he and Bozo gave Gutherson the boot from Manly all those years ago.

Not much respect shown to him back then.

I wonder how many NRL scouts are watching the performances of Rugby Sevens players at the Olympics? Nations such as USA and South Africa must have players with the ability to transition to NRL standard, like Will Warbrick (ex NZ rugby Olympian).

Yeah. They already have two of the best wingers in the NRL, Young and Toupo. It's beyond a joke. Easts have become my most despised club, which is saying something with Brisbane, Melbourne and Parramatta in the comp. But at least with these three clubs I can see that they have good juniors or great talent scouts, and they do struggle with the salary cap.
Not Easts.
No juniors. Can buy the best and most expensive players (Money-Bill, Cronk, Smith, Sualli come to mind), can make a huge bid for David Fifita, were able to recruit Young from Newcastle where he was a rock star, and Lenu from Penrith 'because he wanted to win a comp' ha ha...

From what I have seen of him he has potential to play closer in as a centre or maybe even a 5/8...

Strong, good acceleration and excellent pass...

Wonderful (where is the vomit emoji?).
He gives up a chance to play for the Wallabies. I wouldn't be surprised to read he is actually paying Easts for the privilege of playing for such a magnificent club.

You make that sound like something worth striving for. The wallabies are the softest national team going around.

I'd choose all nrl clubs over the wallabies if given an option.
I was agreeing with you up to the point where you said "all NRL clubs"...

ain't no fool giving up national recognition and international travel opportunities to ply their trade on the wing at Leichhardt...

Against the grain on this one, I watched Ryan Matterson against the Storm and he would be a decent pickup, his first stint was good, defensively he was good and had some sting in his efforts, was fair with the ball.

Has a decent offload in his game and a change of scenery may get his attitude back to where it was.

Plays well only when contracts are on the line.

Yeah its his attitude rather than his ball skills that concern me...

He sat out games and let his side down because he did not want to take a hit in his hip pocket... is that the attitude that we want to ingrain in our squad? I am thinking not...

Having said that, who knows what the conversations were behind closed doors at the time? Maybe he was being poorly treated and sitting out was a massive F*CK YOU to certain individuals in the coaching/management teams? Does a leopard change its spots though?

No for me...

Thinking the same. Depending on the price he could be a very handy pickup to replace Lawton. Matterson and Haumole in the backrow would be an interesting proposition. I am hearing he would like to team up with his younger brother.

Definite no from me. A talent but already won his premiership with Chooks at a young age and ever since has looked more interested in cashing in, so will never be cheap. More importantly has a serious head knock history.

"It's a week-to-week proposition and any time he gets close to playing, he suffers from those headaches and dizziness."
Matterson reportedly parted ways with the Wests Tigers in 2020 due to a disagreement with the club over how he should be treated for a concussion, according to the Herald.

Burbo is coming along quite well , Navale looks like he can compete O K at a higher level and should have more improvement to come .
Waddell with a good competitive approach and quite reliable [ certainly need a big one from him today .]
Sure that the club would still consider other options but doubt that Ryan Matto would be high on the list

There must be some young second rower on the left hand side who must see that we have this amazing opportunity to literally come in and start. Got to be a few Panthers, Canberra, Kiwi or Brisbane kids parked in behind established players. look at the hooker, come from ressies and straight in and possibly playing semis in a few weeks.

Maybe that big young strapping backrower from the Cowboys who looked like making a big impression at the beginning of the season .
Possibly has gone of the boil a bit and have not noticed him in their game day squad for a while [ maybe injured ] but just in raw power and ability , seemed to have quite a bit going for him . .Maybe also still under contract for a bit longer but again did look quite promising

If your talking about Finefeuiaki, he was signed by the dolphins for next year. Would of been a good get. I think we may be putting our eggs in the burbo basket unfortunately. There have been plenty of good options come available in the backrow recently, albeit I don't know if we were talking to any of them, I couldn't imagine all of them not wanting to come to manly. On a side note, I hear ppl say manly isn't an attractive place to come to.. I really don't see why, I get we haven't been the most successful side of the last decade, but we have both state Captains, arguably the best player in the game when fit, can put any team to the sword on our day, yet we're told any half decent player isn't interested lol.. am I missing something? are we just stubborn, cheap, stupid? Or are the club and characters at the club really that disliked?

None of those, is my guess.
Just been too inconsistent, so players would want top dollar (not Tigers level top dollar, but getting up there). As soon as the team is clearly a side on the rise (we're nearly there) it should become easier to recruit decent talent at reasonable rates.
