2025 recruitment & retention

I expect us to make a few moves between now and next year. With Schuster and Lawton moving on and guys like Lodge and Waddell yet to re-sign, we are definitely short some backrowers and at least one middle.

Unfortunately Lawton has had one of his best years and offered a lot of utility value. Something we don’t have in next year’s squad.

I’d like to see us sign an up and coming backrower, an NRL quality backrower, a utility, and an NRL quality front rower.

I’d be happy if Waddell was one of those slots, but the others probably need to come from elsewhere
I think they will extend Waddell and upgrade Lehi from a supplementary contract next year to a
top 30.
That leaves us at 29(barring moving Condon on) and I think they will leave the last spot open through the start of the season.
We can have 6 supplementary contracts(we have Navale and maybe Laiafi) don't know what the club will do signing wise, but I suspect young Max Hayley at second row may be a shot at a supplementary contract,he can also slot in at centre.
Broden Konz also got a run in Reggie's at second row,he is a very good defender and can play lock and hooker(a little like Lawton, also a lighter forward).
I don't have a clue what the club will do,but unless they move someone on I am not sure who they can bring in ....

Just wanted to say Joe, I always find your posts very informative. Thanks very much!

So between 4-12 reasons other than money why Manly said bye bye fainu's! Almost sounds like one reason for every starting player.
I bet big brother Sam is enjoying getting flogged every week. He could have had a mortgage on a second row spot with us by now. Such a pity. ( apart from the several, rumoured non financial reasons ).

Ryan Matterson will be at Manly, in the second row next year

I don't think most kids today are taught good behaviour and self control, too many modern day parents free range their kids and set no boundaries, one of my granddaughters and her husband are guilty of this and it's very unpleasant at times when they come around because the kids run riot and it drives me nuts, not believing in restrictions is setting the stage for a multitude of problems when they become adults and are faced with responsibilities, it's a frightening prospect
I here you brother - one of my daughters in law not setting any boundaries for my 6 year old and 3 year old grand daughters - funny thing is they are great when we look after them but as soon as mum shows up the have total personality changes 🤷‍♂️

Just read Sio Taukeiaho has been sacked by Catalans for ditching a team meeting to attend a concert. While the fact he was sacked is not great, the incident itself is not the worst incident we’ve seen. Might be worth a 1-2 yr deal on the right coin?

God I hope not,he is unhappy there because he is so bad he can't get a starting spot.
Always seems to be a reason why he can't produce the goods.
Edit...
I stand corrected,he started last 2 weeks,last week was good,tonight he missed 7 tackles.

Yeah but imagine if Seibs & co could unlock and rejuvenate him the way they have BFB...
