2025 recruitment & retention

A major indicator in R&R will be how well Humphries goes at the bunnies. I have no prediction but if he does a pretty solid job , signing DCE up for 2 years when he still has so much contract may be a cross in the column
Only time will tell.
If he doesnt progress then fair enough

But if he does, his reduced contract amount, next to brooks and arthur, certainly would have had us in the hunt for an alpha prop or hooker and backrower

Dally M stats had DCE as one op the top players in the game last season, he wasnt, post origin he worked from home for a long time . The arthur plan for origin went kaput and manly had to spend up big on radox to get the ol man to work each week .

What i saw from the humph we wouldnt have lost much in that period but the coach was playing for finals and a contract. You have to play the captain if he puts his hand up, but maybe he shouldn't have

Its just that the hump showed stuff, patience, kicking in the line, a desire to play the team into field position , and i miss that ****.

Relentless!
As for the hump, by the pic someone posted here recently I think he'd go well in WWE. Anyone who works that hard gives themselves a chance at least, and if he succeeds at Souths no-one would begrudge it.
Fwiw I reckon 2025 will be the final year of your torment, after that you can relax and watch Manly thrive with a minimum wage rookie steering the side with aplomb. 🙂

Rubbish story / funny story, but I'd take Cheese with a decent Attitude
The Key word from your Post is Attitude feathered friend
The Cheese lost his Melbourne Mojo when he took the Big money and went to Bondi Beach for a Holiday and this was evident on the playing field for the roosters.

The only way we can get him to Manly if he accepts a Cheap Cheddar Cheese Train and Trial contract
Good luck with that Tony Mestrov

Have the impression that from the club 's future outlook and all things normal , the expectation is that D C E will still go around in season 26 .
Looks to have the goods on the ability and skill trait level and potential but will be surprised if Joey Walsh would be ready to take the helm as a i st grade Manly 7 after just one season reverting back to League .
Could be wrong and taking into account that he has previously had some league experience but just in the example of D C E and before him Trent Hodkinson with their lower grade apprenticeships , probably would anticipate the best part of 2 seasons to be fully fledged .
No other halves at this stage to fill the void apart from Brooks and maybe Arthur.
Of course also dependent with his [ D C E ] body holding out but odds on it should .
Certainly a slightly different and more physical tackling style against the Roosters in the 2 nd final game but which should not determine things that much if it continues and still seems in quite good shape all round

brooks has 3 more years so he will be steering it around, with turbo who is currently steering us around.

Keep hoping DCE might mature and get some driving gloves and get on the steering committee TBH. I just dont believe DCE can lead Manly as a dominant half unless he does, His course to success is too risky and too comfortable on his body

Walsh looks a 27 prospect, hopefully not
Jake Arthur looks handy and i would give him a crack. He is a competitive footy player

But i spoke about DCE after origin, do you disagree ? Are you really pumped he can go the season as a leading half and not just a swansong to cap off some big game moments.

I agree that the Origin (especially losing) did take a fair bit out of him. Still, he bounced back and was one of Manly's best in our 2 finals.
Do I think he can go the whole season as a leading half? Definitely. But I'd far prefer he didn't play any more Origin, that would help the old guy. So fingers crossed Slater picks Munster and Dearden for 25. 🙂

Whenever it happens, it will be the end of what seemed endless and as such, a relief.

All the talk is DCE going around in 26 and I hope that’s the case but there’s a seed of doubt in mind. I remember everyone thought Scam would go another year and didn’t. It’s been a long career with lots of footy and very little rest for Daly. I could see him retiring at the end of 25’ to just enjoy the family life. I hope I’m wrong.

Hopefully by the beginning of the 2026 season, all this talk will be redundant and young Joey Walsh will be Manly's next half. No doubt that is what the coaching staff is hoping for. Humphries and Arthur were just fill ins, it seems. By then he'll be nearing 20 years old. Given Foran played his first games when aged 19, it doesn't seem unlikely.

Think you are bang on.

For him , other than another premiership , not much else to tick off is there.

And as articulate as he is he’ll stroll into a media job.

Was this the lad Bozo brought to the club in his last stint? The kid I'm thinking of, the final straw for the club might have been trashed his accommodation or the like?
