Hiya champs,

As the nrl do a yearly raft of changes (ffs) and coaches (cough bellamy cough) quickly train to rort them...

Here's a thread to post all new changes.

One rule change that will be introduced for 2022 relates to getting rid of the six-again call for attacking teams coming out of their own end.

Instead, defensive teams will again be penalised for infringements inside the 40m zone.

Let them take a line drop out as soon as they want. If players are not behind the line then they must stay out of the play.

Step in the right direction but teams can still take the piss on their tryline when the attacking team might just want the 2 points. Scrap it all together or make it optional for the attacking team. Captain makes the call before the next tackle is complete.

Any chance these mongrels could just leave the game alone for two ****ing seconds?

Stop changing the rules !!!
But someone is being paid a s#$# load of money by the NRL to constantly review the rules. Have to justify their money. It is like any Govt department who have highly paid pen pushers who have to come up with changers to keep their jobs.

**** I hate six agains !!
But be warned a lot of our Tommy led power attack comes off the 6 again rule. We scored a lot of points on 7th and 8th tackles this year.

In 2020 the knives were out for old Des after the 6 again rule was introduced and our team was built around power and wrestle. 2021 after our horrible start was a 180deg shift to a fast power game where we got a lot of 6 again calls go our was which we exploited.

Have just finished watching all our big wins again and I honestly think we were one of the best teams at benefiting from that rule.

At least they are undoing half the sh1t they came up with, with these 6 agains going back to penalties.
Now for the the other half of 6 agains to go the same way.

Biggest change:
Penalties will be awarded instead of set restarts (six again) for ruck or 10m infringements inside the 40m zone of the team in possession. This will provide an additional deterrence to defending teams who are willing to concede set restarts to gain a tactical advantage. It will also provide more opportunities for teams receiving the penalty to attack from a better field position.

So with inside the ten penalties is the inside the 40m determined from where the play the ball is or where the ten metre line is.

Probably warranted and let 's see how it goes . Not sure about the penalty would be determined , probably the ten meter line

I think the change to the 6 again rule is sensible.

The rule change I am a bit iffy about is the change to the free interchange for foul play. Now a player has to be put in the bin or sent off for the injured player’s team to get a free interchange. I think I understand the rationale, but there is no way the refs will be consistent in their application as to what a sin-bin or send off is. While it was annoying seeing the ref put everything and anything in report, thereby awarding a free interchange, at least they were relatively consistent. Not the end of the world though.

It’s a missed opportunity for one of the rules that pisses me off though. I would love for them to change the 7 tackle 20m set restart for attacking kicks that go dead or knock-ons over the try line. It is such a disproportionate punishment to the actual offence. If it was up to me, only kicks that go dead from >30m out should be punished by the 7 tackle 20m set restart.

Just another step to increase try scoring opportunities when near your opponents try line, teams able to keep up good defences when getting hammered by the ref will go along way to winning most games. The weaker teams will really be under the pump on this rule change.
