Time to live up to our Legendary clubs High Standards as the Greatest Club of all
Second Best is not a Manly thing !
MANLY – Des Hasler
Manly are a side that rely - perhaps more than any other team - on one key player to be near the top of the leaderboard.
Tom Trbojevic had arguably the best individual season of any player in the NRL era last year and his trophy list is astounding.
The Manly No.1 took home the Dally M, Player’s Champion, the Wally Lewis Medal for player of the Origin series and was Manly’s MVP to name a few.
Now the pressure is on the NRL’s golden boy to deliver again.
Last season, without Trbojevic Manly won 44.4% of games compared to 72.2% when he played.
Saab scored just one try in nine games without Turbo and 25 tries in 18 games with the No. 1; while Garrick scored three tries in nine games without him and 20 tries in 18 games when their star man played.
Manly have lofty expectations placed on them, but Trbojevic failed to fire when he was needed the most in the Sea Eagles grand final qualifier against the Rabbitohs.
Hasler is an experienced coach who is expected to draw the best out of his players, but it will be hard to reach the heights this Manly side reached last season.
