I am not sure how much we will have to spend next year.I have heard a few people talking about spending money on Woods and Bird, but I doubt how much we will have to spend unless there is more wheeling and dealing. The money saved from Skivy and Snake and the possible release of Taufua and Lawrence (which will probably happen) has probably already been spent for next year on the extensions for 2018 on the Trbojevic brothers and AFB.Add to that the guys like Sironen,Perrett,Uate and probably Hastings who are being covered at the moment for at least half of their contracts by their previous clubs for 2017 who we will have to cover almost fully in 2018 leaves little to be spent. We also have to consider retaining Parker,Bainbridge,Amone and Hopoate(maybe Schuster and a couple of others like Tufui from holden cup and there is not a lot left to spend. The money we may likely have to spend next year may come from the cap increase and any players who do not perform and are forced to move on(yeah i know that many of us don't particularly like that). But until we know how much the cap will increase by(still not determined),it is hard to know what we have to spend(taking into account that most big name players are looking to resign before the start of the season and not waiting until midway through 2018 where we will probably know who we would want to release anyway....)I don't think we will be seriously in the market for off contract players until we know what the cap increase will be,most likely our main money for next year will come from releasing underperforming players or guys who don't fit what we are looking for and picking up guys who will be released by other clubs who are not performing and having their contracts paid for by their clubs much like the current situation.

I don't think so, in-fact, I think the opposite is true. We will have a good hit of money, plus will have players not being retained / re-signed. We lost Jamie Lyon which would have freed up money to aid with the extensions of the Turbos, and we have let go a shed load of players the last two years.

Players like Jamie B (and before that - Matt B) would have been on solid coin, and then Stewart on about 700K and Matai on about 450K will have a sizeable impact on our cap space. Add to that the players that we might still be paying for this year (who have left), but won't need to pay next year, will likely offset most of the contracts where other clubs are still paying some of our roster's salary. Also consider that some of the offset payments to players like Uate and Perrett are on their old salaries which were bloated - there is no way they are on the same coin with us.

I think we will go after one or two big names next year, as plenty are off contract - one forward and one back I would suspect.
