So much for being an unbiased commentator by using his Ch9 show to fire a shot at the Bunnies before their Good Friday game, how pathetic or desperate.

Great reply from the Bunnies spokesperson, I hope they put 50 on the Puppies.

Phil Gould has fired a shot at South Sydney on the eve of their Good Friday clash against his Bulldogs, calling for an investigation into the Rabbitohs about the club’s handling of the Anthony Milford saga.

Gould criticised South Sydney for what he called clerical errors in the contract process that led to the delay of Milford’s $300,000 contract being registered with the NRL, which meant he didn’t have a deal when he was charged by Queensland police following an incident at Fortitude Valley in September.

“The situation of his contract status with South Sydney bears thorough investigation,” Gould said on Wide World of Sports’ Six Tackles with Gus podcast.

“I don’t think it’s been investigated anywhere near enough. I’m not putting any blame on the NRL for this, but I think South Sydney has got a number of questions to answer about their contract situation with Anthony Milford because Anthony Milford’s contract has not been registered.

“Anthony Milford has had no payment, no money, living with his wife and children in a one-bedroom in his parents’ house in Brisbane since last year because he was facing these charges and South Sydney and the league would not register his contract. When in fact, the contract should’ve been registered when it was signed on the 31st of July last year.

“It was then sent by South Sydney to the league to be registered on the 12th of August. Why there was a delay of 12 days, I don’t know. South Sydney was informed six days later on the 18th of August that there was a problem with the signing of the contract.

“This is a very common occurrence, contracts are often sent back ... it’s a big document and sometimes some pages and some variations aren’t initialled, but this was about the stat dec [statutory declaration].”

Gould also revealed that he'd seen the CCTV video that has prompted the NRL to launch an investigation into Milford that is prohibiting him from an immediate return to the NRL despite three assault charges being dropped in court on Monday.

“If you knew the Anthony Milford facts like I know of this matter – there is only one person through all of that Anthony Milford thing that has been wronged and that is Anthony Milford himself on two counts,” Gould said.

“First of all, on the charges of assault and having to go to court and deal with these types of things – which we’ve seen now the charges have been dismissed because they were not sustainable and supported by video evidence – I’ve actually watched the whole video, I watched exactly what transpired on the night and how it came to this.

“There are two things Anthony Milford has been terribly wronged: number one is having these charges and the matter played out in public, and that he’s been charged with assault, which just didn’t happen ... when you see it, it’s mind-boggling.”

The Rabbitohs did not want to add fuel to the fire.

“We have no comment to make at this stage regarding the Bulldogs’ general manager of football’s comments today, apart from saying we have kept the NRL and RLPA abreast of the situation at every step along the way,” a Rabbitohs spokesperson said.

Gould's not the only one .. Wayne Bennett and others are all saying that Milf has been o poorly treated

So it's souths fault that he gets himself caught up in that incident ??? piss off Gould.

The crying of Milford living in a bedroom of his parents Gould goes on about erks me ,the guy was on close to a mil for 3 plus years , He has only got himself to blame , Too many play the victims . Stay out of trouble be good with your money it’s not that hard is it
Apparently he rented his house out so he can't stay there as a tenant has signed a lease and moved in. Also there was talk that he has been generous with his money to family so he may not have much "ready cash".
Either way, Bennett and Gus know their way around contracts - lodgement, structure, procedure etc so I doubt they'd stick their noses in just for the hell of it.

The sticking point is if Souffs had lodged the contarct when they should have, Milf would be getting paid regardless.
It also shows how much players are beholden to the NRL and their "pc" decision making and "guilty until proven innocennt" despite the country's legal system saying "nothing to see here".

While normally I wouldn't care about players from other teams, I really hope that the NRL don't impose additional punishment on Milf. The courts have dealt with the matter, he had his contract torn up and hasn't been able to play the first 6 weeks of the competition. That's already a hefty punishment.

So he threw a garbage bin into the windscreen of a passing car, because he lost his temper with some women?

Yeah but he is a quality human and that really isnt his go.

(one day a CEO or coach will come out say "the bloke is ok but when he is one the pingers and the drink he is an absolute crunt).

We thought the same when Ritchie printed something about Turbo not playing, it was denied but it turned out to be true.

Who knows.
