    Latu Fainu

Interesting that Carayannis said it again today while interviewing Mestrov Latu had long been earmarked as a future elite NRL half but he and his back-rower brother Samuela could leave the club as early as this month. Latu’s rich deal where he would join the top 30 next season made it difficult...

    Latu Fainu

He may have got upgraded when he turned 18 because according to NRL rules Under current rules, NRL clubs can only sign players to a full-time top-30 or development contract at the age of 18, preventing them from playing NRL until they're adults. Which given he signed this 4 year deal when he...

source? NRL website doesn't believe so. https://www.nrl.com/news/2023/01/01/2023-nrl-signings-tracker-latest-signings-news-details-contracts-signings-updates/#seaeagles

    Latu Fainu

The kid has talent no doubt but this continual talk about being the highest-paid teenager or for a contract of this size etc. is BS IMO. He is in the second last year of his contract with us and isn't in the top 30 nor a development contract according to the NRL which publishes this info so cant...

    Suli being circled?

Loan system in play until end of season, separate from Aug 1 signing deadline … now it’s never too late to get rid of overpriced deadwood.😉

    Suli being circled?

Hopefully someone will come in and pick him up til the end of the season. Not worth the $

Could we get Tom Wright? @:)

    Try Causes

Probably not surprising but thought I'd see how the stats across the whole NRL looked for Try Causes. Doesn't paint a pretty picture after 4 rounds with Manly players the 3 worst offenders and 5 in the top 8 across the NRL.

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Not completely correct. He actually played both 2nd row and 6 in SG Ball when he was player of the year so not as foreign to him as many are making out. Again as I mentioned being able to play 5/8 in juniors is a lot different than NRL. He was physically dominant and would often use that size...

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Harsh to lump too much blame on Schuster but those saying he has been a shining light too are jumping the gun. His tendency to go for the low percentage plays are an issue. They don't get punished in the juniors the way they do in 1st grade where possession and building pressure are paramount to...

    Is Jetski the answer ??

Definitely has upside and if he can get on top of his injuries should progress nicely and be a solid back row performer. It was only a couple of years ago he was in the Emerging Blues Squad, so there was obviously something seen in him. Can find the line which is always important, has some...

    Tom Wright

So Miski had twice as many runs for one less line break and the same tackle busts. Still decent though ... And to add insult to injury our club doesn't rate high him to have him in its Top 30. Sort of proves my point about the type of player our club prefers.

    Tom Wright

The reality is in that one run he showed more than most of our outside backs did this year. considering he had something like 3 or 4 runs for the match Id take any of our backs run like that 1/3 the time. Not to mention last game, his stats read 8 runs 92metres, 3 line breaks and 3 tackle busts...

    Tom Wright

Pace and footwork never been a quality we have looked for in our backs.

    Tom Wright

Haha. Part of the new breakdown laws. If contesting at the breakdown you have to stay on your feet and contest the ball only. If you put your hands past the ball you are sealing off the ball not allowing a contest for both teams.

    Tolu Koula

The plan is at this stage for Koula is to play centres as he comes into grade. His father represented Tonga at the olympics as a sprinter and Tolu is of the same cloth he has run 10.58 for 100m. He played Australian Schoolboys Union on the wing. He is very willing in defence also. Nice to...

    Tom Wright

I too played far more rugby growing up and still enjoy watching the game. Super Rugby AU has been officiated far better than previous versions. Refs have let scrums play even when they collapsed/turned if the ball was available. I, like most hated the numerous re-sets of scrums. Both league and...

    Tom Wright

To be fair Wright played in 2 positions last year, at 12 and wing in his first season back in Rugby, hardly a negative to hold against him. Petaia, Australia's most promising back played 3 different positions, Hodge played 4 different positions. Hardly a knock on them. I agree that Wright was...

    Pick two

Really? the nrl.com article from a few days ago had him quoted as his manager had received an offer but he hadn't looked at it and wouldn't do anything til after last few games.
