one area Manly must improve in 2025

Being able to stop opposition momentum. Among many examples, there's still too many times the team gives up 3 tries in 20 minutes. Being the better team for 65 minutes means jack in NRL.

These Black and white rules are still grey

100%. Trying to make it more black and white, as the NRL have been doing, will just cause the same mess as the past 10 years. I don't know how much more black and white or simpler that could be. If it is a deliberate head high tackle, send the tackler off. If it was careless, penalise them...

These Black and white rules are still grey

Exactly. Even without any blow to a player's head, and without wishing to disparage anyone, any HIA done of any NRL player or even the referee at the 70th minute of a NRL could end up not passing the HIA due to consequences of fatigue.

These Black and white rules are still grey

Since the NRL began in 1998 there have been some really dopey rule changes dreamt up, but this one could top them all. Without even the benefit of three schooners of beer, more than a dozen obvious flaws and inconsistences and just general stoopidity can be rattled off as why this idea should be...

    Don't Hold back Rex 1984

Robbed again at Kogarah, Edition #425. What the heck, ref? You give StG a penalty try AND you bin the Manly player as well? For what wasn't even a penalty. At 1:49

    Don't Hold back Rex 1984

At 7:35 in the video when the Brookie fulltime siren sounds, wtf? An electronic lights sea eagles sign starts weeping???

    1986 MANLY

Yes disappointing. Balmain had played mid week to claim 5th place, then Manly rolled through them to lead 12-0. How you lose from there, after the same thing happened to Manly in 1984, was just terrible. Look at Manly rolling through Balmain for two tries, Cleal(!) kicking goals from the...

    1986 MANLY

Manly beat the Dogs home and away in 1986. Have a look at Cleal absolutely monster their pack for a try. At 34:00. Then Chris Close too at 36:45 for another try. It didn't help that Bozo took the captaincy off Cleal when Vautin came back from injury vs Parramatta in the final round of the...

    1986 MANLY

100% agree, except Cliffy wasn't playing 5/8th at all in 1986 (Mitchell Cox was). At Norths in 1985 it was Lyons at 5/8th and Cox at #7. The only time in 1986 that Lyons-Hasler were in the halves combo was one Panasonic Cup game when Cox was out injured or rested. When Cox was out injured...

    1986 MANLY

So in this interview Blake says manly offered him a contract for 1987 but he decided he had to get out, tired of the ever changing position selections. Looking at his 1987 highlights in this video, he still had what he did for Manly in 82-83. Blake's 1984-86 for Manly seems to have robbed him...

    1986 MANLY

Rd 5 in 1996. Phil Blake plays his final game on Brookvale Oval vs a Manly team with Hasler and Lyons. Near fulltime Blake scores one last Brookie Oval try. At 35:10

    1986 MANLY

I put this is another thread, but it is from 1986. 1986 player Hasler giving his all in defence and then rips into his team mates to rev them up. What a window into 20 years later. Dogs don't score another point after this. From 15:44 to 17:10

    1986 MANLY

This Stu Davis tackle on the wing and then try are surely a 1986 Manly highlight. See 6:16

    1986 MANLY

There's now a clearer 12 minutes highlights here. Greg Alexander imo should have been penalised for each tackle in that final set at the end of the game that robbed Manly of a fair go at a field goal to win.

    1986 MANLY

1986 Manly had Phil Blake, Des Hasler and Cliffy Lyons. But with Mitchell Cox holding five-eighth most of the year, Blake was mostly on the wing or centres. In Round 19 though with Cox out injured the team had Lyons at lock, Hasler at half and Blake at five-eighth. Manly beat Sharks 32-4. This...

    Confirmed: PNG Team Coming 2028

What i posted was silly, but if the tv was choosing, there will be 2 conferences. One will be all Sydney teams playing each twice each season, plus 1 game against the teams in the other conference, which will the non-Sydney clubs. Vice versa. Warriors will be made visit Perth and PNG every year.
