    Nathan Brown

I’m all in on signing Brown. I want some mongrel in our pack where other teams know that when they are playing Manly they are going to really feel it and actually do not like playing us. It’s the old ‘Oh damn, this isn’t going to be good’ scenario. We already have Jake, who we know hits harder...

Josh Addo-Carr and Ryan Matterson swap

I just love the rumours. The Kennel would be going crazy. Maybe JAC is out of favour with Gould. However, yeah, no, I can’t see it happening. Why would Eels swap Matterson for a winger? They’d have an amazing backline and finishers.

    Kaeo Weekes

Good slick to Kaeo. He has immense talent and I hope he achieves his goals at the Raiders.

Flipping the 'forwards win matches' mantra in 2024

I think if you look back at those days of the early 80's, of Manly v Parra, Manly had by far the best forwards in the comp and all of them played SOO or for Australia, whereas Parra, apart from Price, were toilers and they basically had 5 of the Australian back line. Gibson's philosophy at...

Our 'new era' logo is not new

I don’t mind it. It’s just a logo and I don’t think they spent much on it, given it’s just and old logo and has been changed from left to right. For all the amateur or professional designers out there, I challenge you come up with something better, and post it. It could be interesting to see ideas.

    Referendum

This referendum is an interesting one. About half my extended family are claiming they'll be voting YES, while the other half claim they'll be voting NO. Those who claim to be voting YES, are either really passionate about it or think it's the right thing to do. Those who claim to be voting...

Who was the often maligned NRL star who didn’t turn up to a tough pre season training session with a well known sportsman?

Come on Bulldog (Daily Telegraph), name him, as it leaves it open to so much conjecture. I just hope it wasn’t who I think it may have been, and hopefully not one of ours.

    Going to Vegas

It will take the players at least 5 days to get their sleeping patterns back in to proper sync on return to Aus. If the NRL draw makes them each play one of the other teams travelling after the bye, and then the other the week later, it should be okay, as they’ll be on a an even health situation.

    Manly v Des.

I think you may have a short memory Swoop, as Manly certainly doesn’t fit the mould you are referring to, when he first was in charge. If Des thinks he has a case, then he’s entitled to sue, just as everyone is who believes they were wrongfully dismissed. Whether any of us agree with it or not...

Rugby league broadcaster Barry Ross passes away

Rex and Barry were great TV viewing in the 70's. Rex gave Barry heaps and so much crap went down with Rex, because most of the Channel 7 production team couldn't stand him. I am certain the set collapsing on him was a set up, however, I can't be sure, whereas, I do know the Sound Manager...

    2023 Pacific Championship

It's all just about the money from and administrator's viewpoint, however, I am sure the guys love being selected to represent their nation and it's a sense of pride and it looks good on their resume when looking for a pay rise. As for PNG as the next team, it has to be so, as it's their...

    Woods Stayski

That’s a good perspective, however, who do you have in mind? We have lost four of our junior props with apparently massive potential. I understand Des, has a philosophy that if you think you have enough props, sign another one, and while some may say Des is past it, just look at prop injuries...

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Well, that’s the first positive post I’ve seen for Shu in a long time, and congrats for your insight. We have to remember that Shu seriously

    Forwards

Seibold obviously has a strategy he is designing for 2024 and it involves lots of ball players and speed out wide. I have been really impressed with Saab in the last few weeks, with his ability to set up Koula and Garrick with his offloads (flick passes), while beating a defensive player on the...

    Kelma Tuilagi

Tuilagi has certainly offered much more of late. I doubt we’d replace Haumole, however, with Burbo now fit, he’ll know he’s only on for around 40 minutes in 20 minute bursts, so can give his all (hopefully).

    Ben 'Burbo' Trbojevic

Burbo and Schuster know each other’s games back to front, from their junior days together, and Burbo made plenty of breaks and scored quite a few tries from Schuster’s sleight of hand. Hopefully more this weekend!

    Assistant Coach after Flanno

As much as it sounds crazy, I’d go with Hook. I thought Holbrook, however, I think he’d want to much control. Hook would be good, because the players would respect he has been around for years. He is liked by players and he has actually had success (except Dragons - but even they like and...

    [Resurrected] Gordon Chan Kum Tong

I think Humphries is definitely the plan, maybe not next year, however, certainly 2025. You don’t move a quality half into No9 unless there is a definite plan. GCKT is with Tartak and I think it may be 👋 bye bye, even though he has his new contract next year. Off to Tigers. I think Haumole is...

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Statistics can make anything you like look good or bad, depending on further analysis. It’s not the missed tackle statistics that really make a difference, but rather what happened as a result of the missed tackle. Was it a missed tackle inside the opponent’s 10m line, which had no impact on a...
