Game Day: Manly V Tigers [Round 17, 2025]

Honestly not sure I even want to watch the game. Might suggest to the wife we binge watch "Bridgerton" or "Sex in the City" instead.

Seibold speaks ... and makes sense

It was tied to his larger point that - GASP! - we're all going to die, and any search for meaning and validation in life (and by extension rugby league) necessitates working backwards from that. [And if you think I'm making Siebold's Morbid Musings on Mortality up, I'm not. You can't make this...

Seibold speaks ... and makes sense

Worth watching the whole interview if you haven't. For me, it's thirteen-and-a-half minutes of classic Siebold, where I find myself agreeing with him and respecting his ability to articulate his point of view for maybe 70% of it, and then cringing for the other 30%. The campfire chats I can...

    Callum Dowell

No! Not Dowell. He really held the joint together!

    Ballin

I think it's the hope of finding someone outside the very shallow "talent" pool of NRL head coaches. A lot of the time it does feel like a merry go round: the same old blokes (Des, Wayne, Flanno, etc) going from club to club because nobody else has the experience. I'm always wary of the next...

    Pre-Game Manly V Tigers [Round 17, 2025]

Unfortunately, Mark, I think the only surprise might be that we can sink even lower. But we've got to hope that the players can find something, somewhere along the line.

Inside the meeting that could redefine Trbojevic’s NRL career

According to the man himself, he felt 100% healthy against the Titans. Not sure if that's good or terrifying.

    June 30 Deadline

Pretty sure he's locked in at the Warriors, but is exactly the kind of player we need.

All NRL Games [Round 16, 2025]

Also, and not to labour the point, but we are just not very good at rugby league.

Young Forwards - Do we have any?

Yeah, I agree that's the biggest problem. Almost every other club in the NRL can point to a plan in place for better days ahead. Us? We might have some good talent coming through in a couple of years (Walsh, Large, etc), but the immediate future doesn't look so bright, and our forward stocks...

Young Forwards - Do we have any?

Is it Stephen Chricton? But, um, we knocked the Bulldogs out of the competition last year, didn't we? And while the Dogs are looking good so far this year, they haven't won anything just yet. Look, I think Ciraldo is an excellent coach, but so far he's won just as many premierships as Siebold...

    The Realistic Cleanout

A fair few posters here had good things to say about him and his time at the Dogs when he signed, but I haven't seen enough of him to know one way or the other. His form in the trials for us was unspectacular. Other than that, no idea. But our pack is so bog average right now that it can't hurt...

    NSW Cup 2025

Yeah, from the little I've seen of him, he has all the makings of a very handy player. Lots of talent there, Impressive that he's slotted into the reserve grade squad so easily, too.

    Pre-Game Manly V Tigers [Round 17, 2025]

Seeing as though we don't actually have a forward pack at the moment, this is where I think we are well and truly disadvantaged. With Api at hooker and Luai in the halves, we will be in trouble. If ever the Tigers have reason to be confident heading into a match outside of Leichhardt, this is it.

Is the draft the only way to even the playing field?

The salary cap isn't the problem. The selective enforcement of it, especially in relation to third-party payments, is. The whole "arm's length" requirement is absurd. Really, the only way to get some sort of parity is to let every club rort the system, not just those with more clout and better...

    Sack Seibold Immediately

The problem being, to get the job you have to impress Scott Penn. And if you impress Scott Penn, the chances are you're not going to impress a group of rugby league players. Or anybody who's got even a casual understanding of the game. I always thought the knock on Siebold - that's he's too...

All NRL Games [Round 16, 2025]

Did I hear it right that the Tigers have lost five on the trot? And they're still only two points behind us on the ladder? No matter, we can play any team back into form. They must be excited by the prospect of getting an easy win at Brookvale.

All NRL Games [Round 16, 2025]

Sigh. All the Fainu brothers, including Sione, would be walk-up starters in our current squad.

All NRL Games [Round 16, 2025]

A lot of talent in that team, but they somehow manage to be mostly awful. I still reckon they'll account for us next week though. More a reflection on us than them, unfortunately.
