    Our approach

Agree re Koula, At times I thought he must have leprosy or similar, because of the frequency of him being ignored either by DCE with a cut out pass, or by Olalauatu consistently unable to set up a player or to offload. Also, Manly seems to consistently swing play to the left where last game we...

    Tolu Koula

Koula is still very much a rookie. His natural talent, potential and long term value to Manly is obvious. Has to be nurtured. Can be expected to learn, develope and improve his game every week. Just hope he stays healthy. Manly have a lot hanging on him. Not mucH depth in the centres now with...

    Ok Harper - last chance

A mediocre performance highlifhted by being outrrun by a 2nd rower. Very likely his NRL days are over. Perhaps should be tried in the forwards?

Parks n Harper - you have competition

Agree, Probably good management to rest him for this week.

    [Resurrected] Lachlan Croker

With regards to the dummy-half situation - after watching Friday night's two games, which showcased some brilliant dummy-half play from all 4/5 hookers on show - it just emphasised how disastrous for Manly's 2022 prospects having to rely on Croker really is. If Hasler perseveres with Croker...

    [Resurrected] Lachlan Croker

Koula is just over 13 stones in the old language. Reg Gasnier was a bit lighter than that.

    Post-Game Discussion Penrith v Manly [Round 1, 2022]

Agree with Koula for Parker, but fear that Hasler will hold Koula back - similar to what he did with Olakau-atu.

    [Resurrected] Lachlan Croker

No, Parker is serviceable. It is Harper who is completely off the pace. Just not up to 1st grade standard. Bringing Koula on with 7 minutes to go was farcical coaching.

    2nd Trial - Manly V Raiders (& other trials)

Virtually the same team from last year. Therefore will again be unable to match Penrith and the other top sides. Harper (particularly) and Parker offer little in attack. The dummy half position remains unsolved - Croker offers nothing. The top teams will shut Turbo down and therefore Manly. I...

    Ben 'Burbo' Trbojevic

And Croker offered even less. The dummy half situation is a continuing major problem for Manly.

    Ben 'Burbo' Trbojevic

Ben Turbo is a natural back row forward. Not quick enough for the centres.

    The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

I think Ben Turbo has outstanding potential and could more than adequately replace Sironen. Although he had few opportunities this season, what I did see of him was that he has plenty of size and tackles ala big brother Jake. Enough said then. Also agree with Bearfax about the risks of losing...

    The squad takes shape

Des Des Hasler has been proven on several occasions to be far from infallible in his player selections and football decisions.

    The squad takes shape

Taufua has been hopeless on the wing for a few years. Perhaps could fill in in the centres, or second row. Maybe needed to mentor the Islands boys.

    The squad takes shape

You are right about Haumole's running. It was noticeable towards the end of the season, that he was always running from a standing start. Don't know what caused that change in style, but it did reduce his effectiveness. Surprised the coaches did not seem to pick up on it.

Harper's been so bad he needs to go

I hope that Koula gets a decent chance next year. If not, he may well be lost to the club.

Harper's been so bad he needs to go

In the last two (and most important) games of the season Harper was the weakest link in the Manly team. Just was not up to 1st grade standard. Perhaps he was playing with an injury? he certainly appeared to have lost his speed. But if he carries that type of performance into 2022, then he...

    Aaron Woods ???

Agree. Woods was NOT needed. We have plenty of depths in relation to prop forwards. Priority signings should relate to a decent attacking dummy half and back up full back.

Manly's spine is not good enough

Largely agree with this. Next season pointless to stick with basically inadequate systems. Needs: better dummy half; thrust in centres, and back-up full back. Hopefully Koula gets a look in. Will be interesting to observe recruitment in next few months.

    Suli off to Illawarra

Some players should NEVER leave Manly e.g. Shearer, Gibbs, and Foran. I predict Suli will go down hill at Saints, end up being dropped, and then disappear from sight. Would be a better option for him to stick with Manly with his mates, fight for his position, and earn his spot in the top team.
