The NSW govt made similar comments to this when PVL was canvassing the 28 May recommencement - -- it seems its never over til its over with him. What stupendous leadership.
A good list written with real insight. I broadly agree with his placements, and appreciate him highlighting a couple of 'what could have been' potentials e.g. Nik Kosef.
I watched it last night --- for the first time since it happened back in 11 .... that first half goes down as one of the most legendary in Manly's history.
Also a reminder of the team we had back then .... Jamie, Brett, Glen, Watmaugh, DCE/KF in their first year, what a team.

More seriously, as many others have said, a no brainer and what we get back from our memberships is a lot more than we put in.
We lost that year because we ran out of props in the final quarter -- a few forwards injured that year really cost us - Joe Galuvao, Jason King and Richie Fasao. I still remember us being pinned in our own quarter and not able to get out. Des may have made a difference, but crucial injuries...

1976 against Parramatta at Cumberland oval. I was a sheltered 11 yo northern beaches boy, couldn't believe there were people that actually went for Parramatta (up til then they'd been a long-term easybeat).

Crusher was alway such a monster - but at 185cm and 100kg he is a big guy but no bigger than many backline players these days.

Agree with this. He didn't get any quality ball (say like Roberts did), so ended up looking like a half even though he was nominally at centre. Same as last year, I'd like to see him more willing to run the ball once he gets back to Manly - he's got the speed to put the defence in two minds.
