    Onward and Upward!!

I agree, lets win next year and worry about the future after that. This is an ideal opportunity for Toovey (if he is the anointed one) to gradually take over the reins while we go back to back. If we bring in someone from outside, again, a handover can be planned and enacted with as little...

DES GO NOW -post your one word answer here

But we thrive on adversity? Don't know, but I reckon our chances are better next year with him.

DES GO NOW -post your one word answer here

Very, very disappointed, but I think he should stay on next year. We have a terrific chance to go back to back, regardless of what happens after that. As Hasler said hinself, grand finals are extremely difficult to make and harder to win. So we should take the opportunity while we have it. In...

    Hoppa - Merged Thread

RE: Hoppa to Parra!!! Don't take this the wrong way Bob, but I won't believe anything until either Hoppa, his manager, Perry or Hasler announces that he has signed a contract. If that happens, then fine. Thats part of professional sport. But these days, even a signed contract doesn't mean...

    Hoppa - Merged Thread

RE: Hoppa to Parra!!! Let's analyze the article: "Stephen Kearney and recruitment boss Peter Nolan have convinced Hopoate to commit to a two-year deal" - so what has been signed? nothing. "several Manly officials and players were privately discussing William Hopoate's decision in the...

Hoppa's willing to get back to Manly

I dunno - up until last night everyone thought Des would be with that other club next year. I'll wait until it comes from Hoppa himself (unless the newspaper or channel nine has actually quoted him). Something about it doesn't ring true. If he has though, we'll just have to suck it up and move on.

Hoppa's willing to get back to Manly

Just watching Fox Sports News. It is showing the back page of one of today's papers reporting that he has signed with Parramatta for $500k with his father getting a place on the coaching staff. I assume Hoppa senior would have some influence on his decision so it could be true. But maybe not...

Surely they can't be serious about this (Brookie Oval)

I think we need to remember that the drawing we have seen is a concept, and not actual plans. Just because we can't see large numbers of undercover seats, or corporate facilities, it doesn't mean they're not included. David Perry is quoted in the Telegaph article on the "Sunday, Footy Sunday"...

Surely they can't be serious about this (Brookie Oval)

I assume they'd name the hill stand the Fulton-Menzies.

Surely they can't be serious about this (Brookie Oval)

Yep, plus it appears to be more open with a lower, flatter stand structure. It gives the impression of being less developed, and almost a village green type set up. Personally, I'd prefer a more stadium feel, but as I said, this might be the middle ground.

Surely they can't be serious about this (Brookie Oval)

It looks to me that they are trying to strike a balance between the requirements of an NRL club, and a green design. We all know that there is a small, but vocal, and seemingly influential green group that appears to be doing all it can to get the Sea Eagles out of Brookie. Pragmatism dictates...

    3 2 1 v Warriors in Round 6

The thing I liked about Hoppa tonight was that he went looking for action, rather than waiting for it to come to him. This shows increasing confidence and maturity. 3. Hoppa 2. Foran 1. Buhrer Stewart, Galuvao, Kite and Matai were all good as well. DCE a bit stilted in attack...

    Why is it happening now

I'll ask the same question someone else did - which of our juniors are under attack, and from whom? The only info I've seen is rumours and supposition from people on here - ie, because Idris is leaving the dogs, they must be after Hoppa. That may be the case, but to suggest that the club is just...

    Idiot watch

This. He could have been acting appropriately all night, but that wouldn't have been shown. They got him smiling, and couldn't wait to show that on the screen. That said, I'm like most here, he needs to wake up. But until the club sacks him, or he leaves, I'll be behind him 100% while he's on...

News: What a boring, predictable, yet ultimately great game

I don't agree with everything Gould says, but he has nailed this. I thought it was a frustrating game to watch, featuring two competitive, but ultimately only top 8 teams, unless they improve. The Sharks game plan was to turn it into an arm wrestle with bustling, aggressive defence, and it...

    Matt Orford

What's the point of this? We were right to let him go, but he did do well for us. I watched it and felt for him, rather than wanting to give it to him.

    Missed the top 4

While Brian is a bit over the top, he's not the troll that other tool is. He makes some valid points, but probably could have been a bit more circumspect in his comments. This thread raises the issue of how you deal with a loss. Last night, and even now, I'm more disappointed with missing the 2...

    loved it.

Exactly how I feel. Not disappointed with the team, but its two points we could have banked but will now never get back. Gould called it the best game he's seen this year. I'd rather it be the worst, but we win.

    Trash T-Rex the Terrible

Don’t bother calling me hilarious just because I don’t agree with your opinion. Thanks. Have a look at a couple of the Roosters' tries. There was one player in particular who gave away a penalty that lead to their 1st, and then makes a pathetic arm grab attempt on Carney. Again a try...

    Trash T-Rex the Terrible

Well believe it, I am serious. Its easy to waffle on about him walking or standing around. I can pick times when every player is doing this, but its easy to jump on the bandwagon eh?
