First Manly game you went to ??

Yeah you are absolutely right, no one was more surprised than our group except maybe the Newtown guys. I can't really remember him kicking anywhere else. It might have been like Mick Veivers field goal. Shame T.A. went to Wests but didn't hear too much about him after that.

First Manly game you went to ??

Some great names there. I remember "Two Ton" Tony Antunac had a prodigious boot on him. Was watching Manly play Newtown at Henson park on a grey and windy day and Newtown had Manly pinned on thier own line for quite a while. The ball went to Tony A about 5 yards out from our own line in the...

First Manly game you went to ??

I know what you mean about a hex. In the early 60's I took my GF, who later became the wife to several games and we never won one. Obviously after that she got the 'don't come with me' but due to circumstance beyond my control this did not last forever.

First Manly game you went to ??

At the risk of making myself feel decrepit I will admit that the first Manly game I remember going to was Manly vs Souths at Brookvale in 1953 (but could have been a year or so either side). Pretty sure Roy Bull and Rex played and I think also my all time favourite winger George (Galloping...

Help me build this Manly team !!

Frank Stanton played for Belrose Eagles as a 16 year old.Although he was apparently born at St Leonards so were a lot of people from the Manly Warringah area in the 40's and 50's.Royal North shore hospital was almost outside St Leonard's Station in those days and much smaller than now. As an...

    The time has come

Thanks C&C and others for the welcome. As far as innings go I would prefer it went on a bit longer and maybe it's fudged a bit because there is a couple of years of the Northern Beagles included. The best I have seen? Very difficult across different era's and different rules. Would be a very...

    The time has come

G'day to all Another long time reader who decided to bite the bullet and join silvertails. Have followed Manly since I was 8 years old that is over 66 years now. Used to sit on the scoreboard (when we could) which was at the southern end of Brookie in those days. Lucky enough to see Clive...

    Peter Bourke

Hi all, Peter Burke was half back played for Manly and later Easts I think. His dad was the starter at Warringah Golf course late 50's or early 60's. I remember that the game was in the early stages of TV broadcasting and Manly was on the box and Peter's dad told him to make sure he kept his...
