    Talau "slimmed down" and had a career-best year attributing it to the weight he lost. So to play on an edge he's going to now bulk up? I don't see it happening. Does anyone have an insight, as it seems to be a popular theme on here.

    Yes - the reality is that Brown should never start a game as it dilutes his impact and causes fatigue later in the season. Obviously, injuries to others dictated this last year. Hopefully, he can be part of an ageing but impactful bench with the other guys you have mentioned.

    Think you are spot on with your assessment on Brown. Can see the same thing happening with Taukeiaho but Tevaga should be able to be consistent at his age.

    For the coin we have spent both are good signings - they will be hungry and while some on here think Tevaga is as slow as a wet week, I always thought he looks very dangerous with ball in hand.

    Yep - would assume his contract would be similar to the one Brown signed 12 months earlier -minimum or close to, then incentives, plus consideration to upgrade the contract if your form demands it.

    What's the view on GCKT on this season and the future? Personally, i don't see him ever being a starting caliber hooker but wondering if he can still add value off the bench. I was rather surprised he was preferred over Simpkin for the bench role when Croker returned at the back end of last year.

    I see us where we finished last year, somewhere between 5th and 7th. So i guess neither pessimistic or optimistic if we are benchmarking off last year's finish. The Storm, Penrith and Sharks are clearly better, and we are probably well off them. Broncos also better if they can get things...

    I think that's the key point - did we want any of the other hoppas? Will Hoppa yes, but the money was too big. The others have been nothing to worry about them moving on. Manly know Lehi is a star and would be planning the position and money to keep him happy from what i have read.

    Those are separate issues to what this thread is about - but yes Jake is probably around 300k overpaid. That Burbo number looks way wrong though.

    Rugby was reported to have offered him 800k. I dont know if that's fact but that was the story when he re-signed with Manly.
