Absolutely brilliant moz!

Easily my favorite Green Day song; and a superb video.

I guess it's debatable whether Cherry is ''working-class'' these days.....but he's still deservedly a hero to many.

I don't know, but I imagine he came from fairly modest beginnings growing up in Mackay. Certainly not now, but as they say, it's how you were brought up that defines your "class", not how much you make when you're an adult.

Technically it's not how you are brought up that defines class, nor is it how much you make. It's how you make it. Working class means the only way you can make a living is to sell your labour power. Doesn't really matter whether it's low pay or high, or even if you are unemployed.

If all else fails....revisit some of Rik Mayall's characters from different shows. A favourite of mine was always Lord Flashheart from Blackadder. I always thought he'd make a great NRL CEO. lol

RIP Rik. Thanks for the memories :)

Thanks for the sociology lesson; narrow as your definition is.

I think it's where you come from, what you do and how you do it; but equally, what you say and how you treat people, that combined, defines the class of a person.

On all those accounts Daly is doing OK, and would still be a working-class hero for many.

What is Daly's job? Oh that's right, he is a professional footballer. I consider a person to be classy or not by the way they conduct themselves in public. I am obviously on the lower side as I don't mind the lower brow humour. I am also, sadly, very crude at times.

Anyway, the song is called "Working class hero". I take that to mean he is a hero to the working class. Many people still consider rugby league to be the sport of the working class. A clip of DCE to many of the young people/kids in todays society (particularly those from poorer families) would indeed inspire them to play the game, and dream of becoming a champion like Daly is. Therefore the title to the clip is very apt.

Absolutely agree moz.

And someone's economic-status may change (and change dramatically) ; same with their lifestyle.

It's how the person reacts to that, which speaks volumes. And rugby league is still generally a working class game, as you say.

Daly seems to me to be maintaining his humility and perspective , from all we see.

And an a*shole is just an a*shole, wherever they are......lol!

Super respectable NBC news anchorman Brian Williams 'raps' to everyone's favourite.....

I just realised that redfoo's song "Let's get ridiculous" was filmed in Manly!

An appropriate title for a Manly filmed video clip given the last 12 months or so.

I wasn't aware of that either @globaleagle

Am wondering if any Silvertails were witnesses or extras??

He's a crack-up that Redfoo!
