You know the ones I'm talking about, the club being in bad financial state, players turning on each other etc. Seems that when you lose those rumours make themselves up.

Probably not the best time to create a thread like this Ceagle. Let people enjoy the win, and throw the hooks out later in the week, eh?

A few on field wins doesn't mean all of a sudden our club is overflowing with cash.

There was a report in the paper today (I think it was) that suggested three clubs needed financial support to pay wages.

I was personally over the moon that Manly wasn't one of those listed :)

Also, we NEED Matai going forward. He is 25, and a core component of the make up and culture of this team. Ok, he could have controlled his aggression a bit today...but you know what I mean....he's part of our fabric.

Also, I personally think DCE will provide better value than Hodko. So looking within is a smart move.

I'm not saying we are overflowing with cash but you haven't heard those rumours for a while. This thread only directed at a select few though.

Fair points and fair enough.

I still think the proof is in the pudding re: sponsorship, increased membership, player acquisition, player retention, improving brand awareness, creating a atmosphere of feeling as though we are part of one cause, attaining funding for Brookie, retaining games at Brookie etc....but a few wins certainly buys time for that to happen.

I'm still hoping some off field good news is on the way for us all to banter about mate. Hopefully that starts with Matai's retention.

drawing a crowd of 20,000 today was a good start.

Certainly agree. I also think we get paid to play there. I hate the Senny Coast, but damn that Oval is a beautiful piece of machinery. It's a shame Brookie doesn't have the same ambience.

Pretty sure we get 100k to play there ( irespective if there was a crowd of 2000 or 20,000 ). Great win by the boys today , absolutely loved it. We need to back that up with a good win up at Newcastle on Monday week.

There were over 20K there. I got there before the match started & as there weren't enough seats in one spot for me & the kids were were pointed to a big area in non GA. Then about 15 mins into the game the people who's seats they were turned up so we had to move.

We went & stood at the back together but were then asked to move as they had some wheel chair spectators arriving.

So we wandered around trying to find a spot for ages around the whole ground. There was nowhere. It was packed & obviously oversold. Eventually I found a ground official & complained & was escorted up to the corporate boxes where we sat & watched the game in more style than accustomed to. There were loads of these boxes empty. We had four rows to our selves.
There must have been loads of people in the same situation yet these empty boxes weren't used.

Anyway - back to the game - enjoyed it especially the second half that I got to see. Well done guys - was a great performance.

I dont think we are flush with funds and of the personal opinion that G.Lowe is more about enjoying the experience topping up a retirement fund and appeasing certain factions than actually making a difference--- always thought this way.

We will never have a large membership base due to the demographics of the area (not many kids and Professionals)- - the more intellectually based and educated you are more likely than not reduces the chances of becoming a fanatical supporter, they tend to lead to a more rounded lifestyle and the less appealing a membership package becomes (i have never been a member just does not interest me but i go to the games 4-5 times a year and try and purchase most things from the club.)

We need a modern stadium that will increase yields and takes advantage of the disposable income most Manly supporters have and also keep marketing ourselves as the Upper Market team to differentiate ourselves from the market.

Yes this is a small niche market but it draws people in from all over the place seeking a club that sort of reflects their nature in life(I'm originally from Blacktown by the way but never related to any of the Western Sydney clubs)
