THE Gold Coast Titans have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons — from the cocaine scandal, to the Daly Cherry-Evans backflip and now the James Roberts contract forgery.

Sadly we don’t always get to hear about some of the better things, like this story about the wonderful work, compassion and kindness of their players.

Jade Elliott is a familiar face around the Titans — a wheelchair restricted youngster who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

She is a fanatical fan who attends games and even the odd training session. The players invite Jade into the dressing sheds and have basically adopted her.

Last week their support for Jade went even further.

Two of the club’s most popular players — Luke Douglas and Matt Srama — escorted Jade to her year 12 formal, bringing tears to the eyes of her family and friends.

So nice to hear the positives out of rugby league! In an age where those on the dark side take all the publicity, it's refreshing to see players do something positive for the community. Whichever team you support, these things bring the sport together.

Brilliant stuff. I saw this article on the weekend and was going to write to the Titans to say what a great thing they have done.

Too often rugby league is hijacked by d$$$heads and we forget that there are some true gems in the sport.

This pretty much echos news across the globe. People don't get there praises when it comes to being a decent human and a lot of time they dont want the praise but to me they are the ones who set a standard. Its all about being kind.

Forget the football, forget the club and even the sport. This is a human achievement and theres no bigger positive story than helping those who need it the most and inspiring others to do so.

Congratulations to every person involved in making this young ladies night (and her families) one to remember. What a fantastic photo.

Another nail in the coffin of tribalism in rugby league. How are we supposed to hate the opposition when they carry on like this? Not to mention any given player could be a Manly player at any given time, such is the rate at which players are traded. A new world...
