Same old pattern appearing again.

We get some good ball and apply some pressure and appear to be getting on top - make an error, gift opposition the ball, our defence flounders and they score. Seen it all year.

Our problems start in the middle - either they dominate the tackle and get a quick play when our players are still trying to get back or they get an offload. Means we're slow off the line, can't slide and we end up jamming in and they go around us. Yes the damage is caused out wide and yes we're poor at defending out wide - but we're equally as poor in the middle which is where our problems originate. Unless Matty B or Jake T are doing the tackling we seem to get dominated in the contact.

Literally nothing has changed in that respect since round 1. In our wins we often rely in periods of the game on either the opposition not getting much good ball, or bombing their chances when they do in order for us to get away with the W.

If DCE is out with his shoulder or pec, don't be surprised to see Turbo Tom back in the side next week. Killer will probably go to 5/8, Foran will play half, Tom on the wing and Hiku will move to the centres.

When it comes to speed in our backs, Snake is probably still our quickest but Tom wouldn't be far behind and in a race over 100 metres I wouldn't mind having some money on the Turbo TBH. Hiku doesn't have the speed to play on the wing but he is much better in the centres.

Its a valid point that has been made about our right side in defence. So often Killer is forced to come in and help which either drags the winger in leaving a big overlap, or if the winger stays out he usually faces a 3 on 1 situation. Its those inside Killer who aren't doing their job which is causing the problems outside, but its the wingers who are coping the brunt of the criticism. It hasn't mattered if it was Blair, Wolf (a specialist winger for those saying the wing is a specialist position and insinuating this wouldn't happen if we had specialist wingers), Tom or Peta, all have been crucified on here for their bad defensive positioning on the right wing. Those inside Killer aren't wrapping the ball up or putting the ball runner on the ground. There are way too many opposition offloads in our own 20 that is catching our right side out. Sometimes Killer has been able to diffuse situations with a good tackle, but most times these offloads are leading to a try.

2nd try was all Lyon, he got caught in the middle of nowhere

That said, I'd bring Turbo in for Hiku

Firstly if you guys think that Tom Trbojevic is worth 18 points you are kidding yourselves. And Hiku wasn't the only one to blame out there last night. Tooves needs to bring Leary and BJ Back ASAP. Drop Burgess and Horo. Im a Big Fan of Justin Horo but he just hasn't had the form the last 2 years. Mase would be on the bench at best if not dropped too. I didn't think Hodges went that bad. At least he can see what's in front of him and darts from dummy half. He gives direction when he does come on. Matty B is slowing down. Think the club needs to come out and let us know what's happening with Tooves for next year because He doesn't seem to care what side he puts on . Wield the Axe Tooves and try and save your coaching career .

You missed the refs giving them the penalties to assist in the "same old pattern"

4 penalties prior to their first 14 points last night.

The cows won the game 16 - 12 without the help but we got dudded yet again.

Hiku possibly has apperance clauses in his contract?

He had a shocker last night but so did a few others. Agree you need specialist wingers and makeshift won't do.

Last night it was clearly a case of their forwards making easy metres and also defending a lot better not allowing any attack to develop. DCE going off finished the night off. If thurston missed the 2nd half would the cowboys be as dominant?

Cowboys are title contenders and we are pretenders simple as that.

And Tooves said before the game that he replaced Tom T with Hiku "for his experience". Showed very little of that tonight
The old "experience" reason, eh?
The Aussie cricket selectors used it with Watson and Haddin in the first Test. Worked out about as well as selecting Hiku last night!

People are going to be very disappointed if they think Turbo 2 is the messiah. Big difference between Nrl and Nyc. He wouldn't have a changed a thing last nite.
No, Tom T is not the messiah but I bet he would've at least caught some of the balls Hiku didn't and then with a bit of luck even scored.

You hate him as a person so no **** you want him

Next year if Barrett is our coach I'll want him gone, but I'll give you the reason

Refused to sign a saints ball for me who was trying to get the autograph for my little cousin, yes i was wearing a manly jersey, plus no guts for not knocking out Nathan Brown
And he can't surf

Tries hard but just sits there and gets in the way

Lives 50 metres from a reef break and I live 40 metres away

Happy that he is moving to north shore and Stop getting in the way down our way

Downside is that he was pretty good for comedy relief and a gob full on how pathetic the dragons are

I can't remember all of those penalties specifically, but being penalised is not something new for us this year and it stems from the same problems. Losing contact means we have no control over the ruck and we get pinged for holding down or interference. It actually is part of the pattern.

That's not the referee being biased or unfair or giving them 'help', that's our own fault.

And this isn't me saying the referee's are good, they're not.

I feel like lyon performs better when Tom T is playing outside him. I think Hiku is a hard worker but I don't think he can read what's happening around him. Often lyon gets the ball and runs towards the line expecting hiku to cut in but instead he gets so close to the line he is almost off the pitch. same goes for defense lyon gets off his line quicker with Tom T is outside him, I believe with Hiku he hold off too long and in doing so gets both players found out of position. at the very least Tom T offers a different dimension to our predictable attack!
