Do you think the nrl will have a look at this (or the media) and get a caution out to melb?

Seeing McKinnon carted off the field was a caution to everyone in the NRL teams surely. The NRL and referees are failing for allowing the Storm players to keep doing it unpenalised.

Why can't you people stop calling on the NRL to take some action, don't you understand that David Smith has far more important issues to deal with as evidenced by the report in today's ST that he is determined to see a girl referee an NRL game.

Thank goodness somebody is on top of the big issues that matter to us fans.

Scummy peices of **** !! Thought I was going to get kicked out of the casino here at 1 point, I lost my **** when Smith elbowed Ballin 3 times for nothing and they get the bloody penalty

And that ****ing little weasel at fullback up to his usual crap, will get away with it as usual

What an absolute scumbag club, can't stand the filthy bastards.

1st time watching a Manly game with the gf and she thought it was hilarious watching me go off though lol

go watch UFC or the like for their adrenaline rush.

I don't like the Storm or the dirty tactics they engage in but please don't knock MMA or those that choose to watch what is a legitimate sport. But thanks for the reminder in any case.
UFC Fight night Silva vs Brown prelims starts in about 45 mins. The main card is live on Fox sports.

No @WAMF I wasn't saying I don't like MMA, just that the lifting and body-slam is too dangerous in footy now.

I watch MMA regularly myself. Am assuming that's Vanderlei Silva coz Anderson broke his leg.
Unusual to not be on PPV?

Anyways back to the footy folks!

EDIT: just looked...Erick Silva! Man that is a common name in UFC. I think I'll toss a coin and imagine one of em is Cam Smith...the welterweights are about his size!

I'm so incensed by this. I really think someone far cleverer than me should edit all the lifts from last night's game together and post on Youtube. Then send the link to NRL, every league writer, Peter Fitzsimons and the Newcastle Knights with a question about what have the team that crippled Alex McKinnon learned from the incident? Did it mean anything to them?
Furious.

It would be a long You Tube clip because it happened at least 25 times.

The administration have a duty of care to minimise the risk of serious injury to the players.

Let me see if I understand it. A shoulder charge is banned but lifting a player into a position where a terrible accident might cripple him is ok ?

This better stop and in a real hurry.

All the focus seems to be on Bird's lift and the repercussions from it. Surely it was no worse than the several dangerous lifts of our players last night.

Oh that's right, Manly players are the victims so nothing said

Hasn't it always been the rule, that as soon as the defenders feet are off the ground, the tackle is effected ?

Therefore, apply the ruling when three attackers are chairing Choc around :dodgy:

Scumos are playing with fire, as Alex still has the right for a Civil suite and his Lawyer could show intent by presenting the many lifts in our game

Without being totally cynical (actually I am) methinks this is what the NRL 'job for life' was designed to prevent.

Not too cynical, I'm sure they considered all ramifications, though I'm sure they also were thinking of McKinnon's well-being.
Hopefully when he's recovered enough to go to work, he has good advice in his corner when it comes to negotiating the wages.

Job for life would merely compensate for loss of income, would do diddlysquat for the astronomical cost of lifetime rehabilitation

Manly has to vigorously pursue what happened at AAMI, as it was a sustained tactic and against every NRL rule regarding Player welfare :dodgy:

What about this Greg Bird reduction ? How ridiculous. Greendog announces clampdown, post McKinnon, but at the first sign of trouble, it's reduced. So this brings that decision not to cite any Storm player into the acceptable zone. Sneaky barsta_ds

I dunno....I thought bird's tackle was ok.

dunno_2011.gif

But the storm's tactic was despicable and I'm shocked a caution hasn't been issued by the no real leaders

No I thought Bird's was reckless or careless whichever is the more serious.

The guy was lucky the point of impact was the upper back/shoulders, rather than head first - which was highly possible from the force of Bird's ''throw''.

I'm just astonished players and teams are still utilising the ''lift'' after the Alex Mac disaster.

Especially the Scum, of course.

Guys like Bird, knowing that SOO is just around the corner, are lifting with impunity. What if there's a crippling injury in SOO ? What if it's another cleanskin player like . . . . . er, . . well . . .. DCE. . well you know what I mean !

I'm with @globaleagle - I didn't think Bird's was THAT bad. Certainly nowhere near as dangerous as the Storm's on Choc, amongst others in that game. That not one Storm player was penalised/charged/cited for any of those lifts smacks of favouritism. So infuriated

Yes, you would think the Storm got a wake-up call and learnt from the McKinnon tackle. But no.....what will it take to stop them?!
