At this point in time we have arguably one of the best fullbacks in the game the best centre pairing and the best halves...can't see us missing the 8
Most of us thought that about the last eight games. On current form we are not a top eight team. Lets see if tooves can earn his money and turn us around.

Totally agree Jerry, we weren't really playing like finalists in those last 8 weeks although I thought we showed a lot of toughness in that last game against the dogs.

Hopefully I'm not looking through maroon and white glasses when it comes to our chances in 2015. But I have faith we will still be a force.

In our last 7 games of the 2014 season we won 2 games, both by a solitary point. We weren't a top 8 side by then and I am struggling to see anything that will change for 2015 considering we will still be without Buhrer (Recovering), No Kingy, No Glenn, probably No Choc and a leadership group that remains unmotivated and unhappy. So far our recruitment for 2015 doesn't fill me with optimism, but we may yet sign someone decent.

Sadly, for the first time in a decade I don't see us making the Top 8.

Oops, my bad. We won one game by 3 points against a spoon contender and the other by one point.

Phew, that's so much better than I had thought.

And still 10 months on from this post there are those who will not accept the truth of our situation.
Apparently our coaching staff are still unable to see a problem & continue to select the same players (looking at you Hasson) & use the 2011 play book. There are still those who claim a Toovey stitch up, when he has had almost a full year to change something, anything.

Not all are pessimists .
You call it pessimism, but looking at that post in October 2014 I'd call it pretty realistic and pretty accurate. I've been bagged from pillar to post about my views and I get that Tooves is a club legend. He is my all time favourite player, but he is not a great coach.

He inherited a premiership squad and is to this day still running 2011 plays. His selections are poor and his bench rotation is poor. Throw this post back at me in another year, but without change we will get the same again next year. Tooves needs an honourable exit now, this week. We need fresh thinking or we will win our first spoon this year and who knows about next year.

And that doesn't mean he's not a club legend, or that we all don't love him (because everyone does). That's not disrespecting the man, who is obviously maroon and white to the core. No-one is questioning his loyalty, passion, effort etc etc etc. People seem to think Ralphies type of post is an attack on Toovey as an individual....it's NOT. It's about wanting change the the betterment of the club, and results on the park.....simple as that - and I agree Ralphie.

People need to distinguish between the two.

We all loved the player, and the bloke that is Toovey. Maybe "the club" needs to go in another direction for results though? Surely that's not negative, or pessemistic, but more hopeful, and thoughtful about the ongoing prospects of the team?

I didn't pick us to make the top 8 back then and it had nothing to do with coaching.

Our roster is an absolute disgrace, close to the worst in the NRL.

Our forward pack, perhaps. But our backline is still strong when fit and firing.

- 2 international 'multi-million dollar' halves
- one of the best centres to ever play the game
- the other centre is one of the toughest to ever where the maroon and white
- arguably our greatest ever fullback and the most prolific try scorer ever

For some reason it's just not clicking this year... and I would say that's partly due to our "disgraceful" forward pack.

I mean, a 35 y/o Mason and the adopted Burgess bro as our starting props?!? It's no surprise where we sit on the ladder, quite frankly.

2 halves and a full back that don't want to be there. The slowest 2 centres in the NRL and wingers, well they are wingers, players not good enough to go play in a real position.

Trouble is people sugar coat our team on past performance. Players need to be assessed on 2015 ability, not what they were capable of in 2012 or 2013.

The losses of Gutherson, Lawrence, and Buhrer have had a massive impact.

If something doesn't change now we are in for our first ever spoon. Not ever winning the spoon is one of this clubs greatest achievements and needs to be protected at all costs!!! Not getting the spoon is all I care about this year( those who think we can make the 8 are completely off there heads).

There needs to be wholesale changes to the playing group( bring in youth), or to the coaching staff. Like many others iv always loved Toovey and always will BUT no one person is bigger than this club. It's just that simple.

Still surprised?

Extremely! I thought bennett was handed a good roster at the drags and then did nothing with the knights. Ill eat my words though bennett knows how to coach thats for sure. Mind you the team that griffin built would have only gotten better with another off season. I do believe he was hard done by getting the sack.

Yep, good points. I do think we all have a habit of rating players based on previously great form. But listen, our backline hasn't changed since 2014 and for most of that season, we were top 2.

And although Brett may "not want to be here" (where else would he rather be - every NRL team fans' hate him), he's still scoring and assisting try's. Even on Friday night his bat-back led to our first try.

I also think you're being little harsh on us poor wingers. It's not become a highly specialised position @:p

Do you think it's fair on a new coach ,to give him the team & say "by the way -Dont be the first Manly coach in history to get the spoon".
This is Toovey's team ,its his job to pull us out of this mess .And if he doesn't ,then lets talk.
This is our first bad season with Tooves in control.
Ever hear of "when the going get's tough" , Then let's give him to the end of the year to prove himself.
You all talk about lack of loyalty in the game ,but have no problem casting aside a Manly legend halfway through the season. (Doesn't feel like the MANLY way to me ).
