"I’m really pleased to be re-signing with the Sea Eagles," Williams said on Monday.

"The last few months have been the best of my career and a lot of that comes back to the work I have been putting in under the guidance of the coaching staff at Manly and the support of my teammates."

That's the most promising article so far that I've seen. Thanks B_E. At least it has quotes from the man himself (hopefully). When do they leave Australia for the four nations comp? At least then we should be able to get official confirmation that he has signed. Call me paranoid if you want but with the things that have gone on lately around our club, I think that I am entitled to be a bit.

This is reall positive stuff...keep em coming.

Well done big fellah. Showed some nice touches in the game yesterday as well. It will be interesting to see how Des does juggle his forward rotations next year. I still think the T-Rex off load is still an underutilised asset we have.

Eagles hold on to Williams

GIANT Sea Eagles second-rower Tony Williams formally re-signed with the club on Monday for another two seasons, saying a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

Fresh from making his Test debut on Sunday for Australia against New Zealand, the 22-year-old has enjoyed a watershed 2011, helping Manly win the NRL premiership and establishing himself as an important player in Des Hasler’s starting side.

“I’m really pleased to be re-signing with the Sea Eagles,” he said.

“The last few months have been the best of my career.

“A lot of that comes back to the work I have been putting in under the guidance of the coaching staff at Manly and the support of my teammates.

“It’s an exciting time in my career and I’m really looking forward to getting back amongst the boys as we try to win back-to-back NRL titles next season.”

Williams was also happy to sort out his contract before he departs for the United Kingdom ahead of the Four Nations campaign later this month.

“It has lifted a bit of weight off my shoulders,” he said.

“It’s a great feeling to be playing alongside players of this calibre, at this level.

“At 22, my best years are definitely still ahead of me.”

That's some great news B_E. Welcome aboard the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles express again T-Rex.

This could be interesting, by the time Tooves comes in as coach:

1. Snake
2. Oldie
3. Skivvie
4. Lyon
5. Farrar
6. Foran
7. Cherry - Evans
8. King
9. Ballin
10. Rose
11. Watmough
12. Harrison
13. Stewart

14. Bhurer
15. Williams
16. Lussick/Cunningham/Stromquest
17. Skinner/Robinson/Mauro

It amazes me that V Mauro was an in integral part of this team all year and you think 3 or 4 players will just walk straight past him.

WHERES BIG JOE??????????????

Winning!!

we all know he signed for 2 years but he allegedly has an option in his favour for the second year.

He signed for 2 years
He can of course speak to who he wants about playing in 2014
This is why the papers say players "have an option to discuss...."
But saying I'm interested in talking about my options when my contract ends is of course different from "get out clauses"
The press know it revs people up, player managers love it as it makes their charges seem in demand and helps players when they are looking to extend or find new deals.
You should have been with us in Sharkies last night pre-game as the rumours that were bandied around by the MWTS (and all of course from "sources in the club" "a mate who is well in" "a friend of a players ex-girlfriend" "Danny Weidler" and other ultra reliable sources) would have had you in stitches.
Gee if we'd put them on here we would keep the journos in scoops for years.....
