Kiwi, it's my view that Bani doesn't really handle the cross kick to the wing spot, ala Warriors game when the ball is crowded with attacking players.  The more traditional catch, return, bust the first tackle might be his go.  Anyone but Robbo.  I like him, he's an excellent winger, but just not a fullback.  Time to try a guy who is a specialist fullback.  Not Hoppa.

No KE. I dont know his name. I just think even a reserve grade fullback who plays fullback week in week out, is better than Robbo, a winger playing fullback

Zipf... go son!
Can I take it by that response that you rate him or are you just having a dig at his surname?

okay so i've been mulling/stressing over this throughout the day.

i like a lot of what Kiwi has said..

I'm also hoping that the manly docs (or whoever) is blowing this way out of proportion and he is back sooner than what has been said!

Before the beginning of this season there was never a mention of not being able to win when Brett isnt in the side. A run of poor performances just happened to coincide with Stewart being out, and we were always going to improve gradually with or with out his return.

Ah wrong, before this season started, our winning percentage with Stewart in the side is around 70%, without him its around the 30% mark.

No media or other fans influence in those figures, that is a fact!

Any idea how many games he had missed prior to this season. I would doubt that it was anymore than about 6. That is hardly enough of a sample to make a judgement from.

I would like to see Williams get a go but neither would obviously come close to Stewart.  Guess Des knows best with the Stewarts replacement.

Howie Matthews is the regular FB up there I believe, is a young Kiwi who about 3-4 years ago I actually did hear a bit about as a promising player

In my view, throwing him up would not be the answer, the 3 wingers we have would do a better job

All good... sort of.

I'd definately go with Wolfy at the back. He'd need a month or so to get the plays but I think his hard running and big effort will get us over the line til then.

Hopefully the team can fight hard and get us into that top 8 and with stewy back we could win one of the best grand final wins since 08.

LOL @ a fullback named GODFREY

The last player time I really laughed at a player's name was a young reserve grader for the Broncos playing Manly at Brookie.  I was absolutely sure his name HAD to be a gay gee-up.  The name?  "Wendell Sailor".

Forget Hoppa as a saviour.  Not playing this year is one issue.  Another is that whilst his attack was very promising last year, his defence as a fullback wasn't up to it.  Easily stood up.  He's just a young kid playing above his age.  Give him time. Let him get used to dominating.

I've only just heard the news. Devastating. Just get him back and now he's gone again. I always wondered about whether emotional pressure could contribute to an injury this year.
Seems like it's time for the other boys to stand up and be counted and play like true Manly Sea Eagles.
The best thing for Stewart of course is for the injury to heal properly. We'll have him back for the finals if we make it.
Get well Stewie.
Don't give up Manly.

Whenever there are knee injuries they say what type of ligaments.  Usually it is anterior cruciate ligaments (season ending) or medial ligament injuries (usually 4-6 weeks).  You don't normally need a diagnosis to determine an ACL rupture.  Just watch them writhe on the ground in agony (which Stewie didn't).  What's different here? Both the time on the sidelines, and the absence of specifics. Something fishy?

Maybe Dr David Gallop diagnosed the MRI scans?

I confess I had a similar thought for a minute, a convenient absence indeed from NRL point of view. But I can't imagine the club let alone Brett going for a conspiracy, he looked like he really wanted to be playing footy.
