Totally disagree with the people who think having players in SOO will derail the Seaeagles Express next season. This was Bennetts whinging mentallity during the Broncos dynasty when they had 12 Broncos in the SOO team. How can you complain about having the best players in the world who miss 3 games out of the season??
Manly will have 3-6 involved in SOO & personally, I only view SOO as a high quality mid week game that does not get me near as pumped as watching ANY Seaeagles game but find it hypocritical to complain about having rep quality players. Keep in mind also -
*Players come back more confident & usually go to another level after playing SOO.
*Its a great opportunity to give fringe players & rookies a chance to show their talent & this can be handy by seasons end if called upon.
* The old injury complaint can happen any time - thats footy.

Can only really see 3-4 players play Origin from our team.
The Stewart brothers
Choc
T Rex

Killa won't get picked, King probably had his file NTPA after being so ineffective

Ineffective means a pure joke right?

Do you think there is any chance of DCE getting Cronks bench spot for QLD?
Without favouring Manly players at all, DCE was the form half by seasons end, including the lead up to the finals & definately deserves the gig.
For mine the Stewarts, Choc, T Rex & DCE are good things & hot form from smokies like Buhrer & Lussick will put them into contention.

Buhrer and Lussick are a lot further behind the pecking order than smokies. I rate them both highly but the only way they'll be able to do enough next year to get into the Origin picture is if we have some injuries to some key people and they both get alot of extra minutes on the field.

I don't think DCE will get the QLD spot next year, not initially at least anyway. Barring injury it will be Cronk and JT and I doubt they'd got with a specialist no 7 on the bench. Depending on how things works out Ballin might be more of a chance of getting the call up if they don't want to burn out Cameron Smith during games.

You are kidding if you think it does not have an impact

There is a reason why it has been hard for teams to go back to back...Salary Cap and rep duties

Do you not think DCE etc would not have benefited from a longer off season?

Poor example -DCE was still peaking at GF time so wheres the benefit??
My bad about Origins effects, it does make a difference - the players involved come back better players & bring a positive confident vibe to their club team.
The Origin game played cancels out the club game missed so its 6 of 1 half dozen the other with game time.
Got 1 thing right though - the salary cap is designed to help teams survive by not overspending, but does work as a leveller with playing rosters creating a closer comp.
If you claimed injury, which can occur in Origin as it can in trials, club games & training it would have had more merit but unfortunately its just part of the game.

3-4 players isn't a huge loss, plus we will have the bye in one of the games.
Pretty sure killa has stepped down from all rep duties and Ricky knows it.

King would have to have a huge turn around in form to be considered

Ballin will come into QLD if C.Smith is injured or suspended.
Wolfman might get a look in if his not injured and playing well.

MK it is about getting rest at the end of a very long season

As for state of o you are not factoring in the mental fatigue which many players speak of (read Paul Gallen, Petro, JT to name a few)

Mate - Thats why these players you have mentioned are on the big dollars( Marquee players) & still figure in all the Dally M & best player awards despite playing these rep games & SOO players are often involved in GF winning teams.
Its expected of them to deliver like they expect the big pay packets.
I do agree fatigue can effect bash & barge players with huge workrates like Gallen & Petero more, but fortunately Gift plays smart & Choc is more dynamic in short spurts not a workhorse. As for other hopefuls like T Rex, DCE ,Wolf & Snake I cant see it burning out their seasons.
I guess we will find out next season Isz.

Selling Choc a bit short there. He's pretty much dynamic for 80 minutes these days. A few times in his career he's been tried to be a bench player on the theory that giving him a rest means he will be more dynamic when he comes back on but it just doesn't work for him like that. He's like a metronome, start him up and he ticks over at the same pace for the entire 80 minutes. And his numbers in terms of tackles and runs stack up with the best workhorses in the comp and he's got the additional benefit of putting in big runs and big hits which a lot of those type of players can't do. I wouldn't swap him for anyone.

Well I cant say 80 mins BE considering he started SOO off the bench however, he has increased his workrate a bit.
Still not bash & barge style like a Gallen or Petero & actually plays a tip on pass half the time, not just catch & smash. Therefore physically not as drained & from what I have seen of any club matches following Origin, has had little or no effect on his performance for Manly.
Agree would not trade Choc for any other backrower atm.
