Jason Robinson is a bit of a home town Harry so a big crowd at Brookie (no Titans fans) should see us win the penalty count.

AFTER 16 season, 344 games and 176 tries, this Monday night match marks the final time Steve Menzies will run onto Brookvale Oval for a regular-season match.

The Sea Eagles should have more than enough motivation heading into this game – send Beaver off on the perfect note, stay in the race for the minor premiership and secure a top-two finish, but the Titans are not without motivators either.

The Gold Coast outfit – still a faint hope of making the finals – were fantastic last Friday night despite going down to the Broncos, with their under-strength forwards pack rolling over the top of Brisbane before Darren Lockyer stamped his mark and won it for the home side in extra time.

On the other hand Manly barely got out of second gear while running in nine tries against a dismal Wests Tigers – a match that was more of a training run than a finals precursor.

Sadly for the Titans, their brilliant fullback Preston Campbell – who was best on ground against Brisbane – won’t make the trip to NSW after it was found he played most of last Friday’s game with a broken jaw. In a massive blow, he will miss the rest of the season and has been replaced at the back by Ben Jeffery.

For the Sea Eagles, reliable lock Luke Williamson will miss a few weeks of footy with a hamstring injury, and Jason King returns from a foot injury to take his place on the bench.

The only other change for Manly is purely cosmetic, with regular back-rower Anthony Watmough named at five-eighth to allow the versatile Menzies to play in his preferred number 11 jersey in the special match.

Watch out Sea Eagles: Scott Prince has made such a positive impact on the Titans’ attack since returning six weeks early from a fractured arm. The Origin halfback is capable of winning a match off his own bat, and he could easily spoil any celebrations Manly have planned for Menzies. Prince has laid on four tries in two games back from injury and is looking increasingly comfortable in the middle.

The Titans are most lethal in the ‘red zone’, scoring 46 of their 80 tries from within 10 metres of the try-line – more than any other team in the comp. A lot of this comes down to the sparkling short-kicking game of Prince, and considering Manly have conceded 42 of their 58 tries from within 20 metres of their try-line, they will need to be on their toes if the Titans get good field position.

Also look for Prince’s excellent passing game to exploit Manly’s weak right-side defence, where Steve Bell and David Williams have been caught out in recent weeks.

Watch out Titans: The Sea Eagles may be coming off a fairly hollow victory against the Tigers, but they will be looking to put the finishing touches on their game before the finals series and could use this match as a way to get their attack clicking into gear.

Steve Menzies, Brett Stewart and Glenn Hall all crossed for doubles against the Tigers, while Steve Bell (17 line breaks) and Brett Stewart (17 tries for the year) continue to be constant threats.

They will also be wary of Manly’s second-phase play, which killed the Tigers last weekend. Manly produced 16 offloads for the match – up on their season average of 13. Adam Cuthbertson (32 offloads for the year), Anthony Watmough (35) and Steve Menzies (39) are the major dangers in this area.

The Titans will need their forward pack to lift again. Manly make more metres per game (1400) than any other team in the comp, far and away more than the Titans’ 1271. Both organisers (Gold Coast’s Prince, and Manly’s Matt Orford) are more effective playmakers if their forward packs are on top.

Where it will be won: Injury has robbed this match of a battle between two brilliant fullbacks, and it could allow Brett Stewart to take the spotlight. Stewart was excellent against the Wests Tigers and his ability to chime in as a playmaker as well as a try-scorer could have a huge influence on this game. If Stewart plays well, Manly should win comfortably.

The History: Since their re-entry into the competition, the Gold Coast are yet to taste victory over Manly, but they’ve come close on occasion. They went down 20-6 in a controversial match last season, while Manly put on several late tries earlier this year at Skilled Park to run away 34-14 winners.

Conclusion: Take Manly. The emotional build-up for Menzies’s farewell should be enough to get them across the line, and the loss of Preston Campbell is a huge blow for the Titans who have been brave all season. But they simply cannot cope with the amount of injuries that have hit them late in the season.

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

I have a sneaky suspicion that Jamie Lyon will play tonight
Just the way Zorba spoke this morning

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

Rumour is that Snake is out - any one heard?

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

I hope not.

I want every chance to see a big score racked up and a good lead going into the final round. That won't happen with snake off the field.

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

love to see Brett get a try or 2 tonight to put him as seasons top try scorer

20 min gone in the NYC

I thought at the start of the week there was a pretty good chance of that, he's been running for a couple of weeks now and he couldn't be to far away at all.

He has cruelled us a few times this year too though.  Was he ref in that Drag Queens game?

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

We lead 22-6 at half time in Toyota Cup. We've scored 5 tries and kicked 1 goal.

Teaeriki Penaha has a hat-trick already and William Hopoate has also crossed for a try, along with Jai Jones- Wiegold.

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

70mins gone in Toyota Cup.

Manly leading 34-10. Penaha has 4. Cherry-Evans has kicked 3/7.

Our Toyota Cup team will be VERY promising next year with the likes of Hopoate and co still eligible - not to mention some players they'll bring down from QLD. Top 8 definitely not out of the question.

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

Penaha has his 4th, i was impressed with him last week

Judging by the live updates Junior Hoppa has thrown a ripper of a pass for 1 of them

We are giving them a dusting, 38-10, could be better but Cherry-Evans is 3/8. His stats always seem low

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

OH, and NSW Cup side are tied for 2nd now, flogging Wests 40-16

1 thing i have noticed the past few years is that quite often we manage to sweep all 3 grades, hope that trend continues !!!

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat

Gee if there’s a team that makes things harder for them selves than it should be it manly,

we don’t need another team to beat us we can do it ourselves

No respect for the ball @ all after we got up by 10.

Re: Sea Eagles V Titans Teams, News Stats & Chat
