Spewing we aren't going to be at full strength. No Matai or Wolf. We cant afford to have too many players out of our top 17 at any one game.

I fear that David Williams is the Les Kiss (Norths Kangaroo winger in 1986 for the younger generation of posters) of this era. One or two brilliant seasons and the rest lost to injury.

Hope I'm wrong!

He's certainly had his fair share of bad luck lately, lets hope he's only out for the week.
Maybe the other article about Kyle Lodge being considered for this weeks game was because Dessie was going to play him in the centres and shift T-rex onto the wing to cover the loss of the wolfman.

Wolfman was in the social pages for partying on in Surry Hills - must be a serious injury. Maybe the alcohol helps the rehabilitation?

He better kit up, or he's off my Christmas list. Les Kiss - LoL.

Matai / Wolfman, supporting the Northern Beaches hospitals since way back.

For the record, if Oldfield comes in and kills it, I reckon Des should run with him the whole season.

so then :

3.TRex
4.Lyon
5.Oldfield
6.Foran
7.DCE
8.King

To be fair mate, its a hamstring strain. As long as he isn't dancing the night away etc at Surrey hills he should be fine to go out and enjoy time with his friends.

At least he isn't punching light poles, or getting booted from the Crowie hey mate?

If we do have some depth its in the outside backs.  I'd be worried if we lost a prop or two.

At least if he doesn't kit up he has gotten something good out of it. Ridiculous that some people think they can't have a social life. A strain to his hamstring and he should stay in bed should he?

Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy could wait until match eve to decide on his line-up to face Manly in their round one NRL clash on Saturday.

Bellamy will name an expanded squad as he gives a host of injured players as much time as possible to prove their fitness.

One certain to start the Storm's first match for NRL competition points since last April is fullback Billy Slater, who has recovered from shoulder surgery.

Advertisement: Story continues below Pleas to play Souths recruit Beau Champion, who hasn't managed a Storm trial due to injury, appear to have fallen on deaf ears.

"He's probably been on the edge for a little while with that head injury and now the calf, I'd probably say he's pretty unlikely," the coach said.

Five-eighth Maurice Blair, centre Chase Stanley and forwards Sika Manu and Rory Kostjasyn are among the injured brigade.

"I'd like to have the line-up settled but we've got a few injuries," Bellamy said, adding they will test the players on Wednesday.

"Rory Kostjasyn rolled his ankle at training on Friday so we're going through a bad patch at the moment but hopefully we'll have a few there on Saturday.

"It could be up to Friday before we make decisions, I'd like to have most of that done by Wednesday but sometimes it doesn't work out like that."

Bellamy said Manly's pre-season form had been impressive and would test his new-look side, which shed a number of key players to get under the salary cap.

"They've had great form in the trials and they've got a lot of good experienced players there so they're a really good, solid, aggressive team so it will be a good test for our blokes first up," Bellamy said.

"I've watched both their trials and I thought they were really impressive, especially against the Warriors.

"You know Manly's a good team and when you get into the tough parts of the game they're going to be in there competing."
