I cant wait to see what bull**** Throthfied writes or spins tomorrow.

Maybe tooves has been offered 3 mil to go to the Dragons and has agreed to terms last year.

Maybe beaver is coming back to Australia to play one more year with the storm.

Maybe zorba will take over as manly C E O next week for 1 mil a year and a free fridge for every room in his house.

Maybe Bellamy will coach the sharks next year for nothing as he feels sorry for the club .

Maybe Dean Ritchie will finally move out of his mums house.

Maybe Dan Murphy's will sponsor Phills column.

AARRR the things that must rattle around in his head.

Cheerrs Phill. Have another drink

Thats Gold......

Phill where are you.

Do you have a hangover. Hooper is doing your coulum again. He has done a nice story on chock.
You must hate to see pro manly stuff .

No the prick is at it again in his Buzz column. Pointing out repetitiously that the NRL haven't registered Snakes contract still. What amazes me is that the Rorters can sign up SBW and Jennings without any questions over salary cap.
SHOOSH I - THE NRL is yet to register champion Manly fullback Brett Stewart’s new contract despite the increased $5.85 million salary cap for this season. We hope a boring squabble over the NRL’s collective bargaining agreement doesn’t drag it out much longer

"Tele Phil, he's a Dill" -

(with apologies to Don Walker):

Unsubstantiated rumour overload
Steel pigs may fly, Jamie's leavin'
Sharkies theme 'toon' always playin'
He's a goin', he's a staying
Insults to keep the fires burning
Gossip keeps the wheels turning
Sharkies on the edge of 'blivion
Start off smug and end up yearning!
Tele Phil, he's a dill . . .
No Tele reader knows
Caught between truth and fiction
Tele Phil, he's a dill . . .
Some men need a 'family'
Need the News Ltd fraternity
Rupert's salvation guaranteed
Dean's the only friend he needs

Is this guy for real?

THE drama over Jamie Lyon's future at Manly could easily have been averted.

When Titans boss David May phoned his Manly Sea Eagles counterpart David Perry to inquire about the champion centre's availability, he was left with the impression that the door was open.

Instead Perry should have issued a firm "hands-off" warning to his rival from up north.

The Titans offered $3 million over four years and they thought they had their man.

Poor Jamie Lyon was left to defend himself from suggestions he was walking out on his mates.

Does he even grasp his role as a reporter, he must think he is there simply to generate hits on a website with whatever salacious drivel he can find, rather than you know, researching a story and reporting an informed opinion, and if that fails, sticking to the facts.

He is a complete joke. I hope he realises he has no credibility, no respect and people read his ****e because it's so amusing, not because he contributes anything meaningful.

Joke of a human, rag of a paper, scourge of the league.

He seems to be using David Perry as a scape goat for his poor journalistic abilities while stirring the pot with Manly fans.

The more blogs this clown gets on their website the more popular he seems.Ignore his shock jock methods and he may just go away.

Maybe David May just got the wrong "impression". Seems like he had the wrong impression all along.
Seriously though, the reporting of this whole incident has been up to the usual high standards of Australian journalism: pickup a rumour from one internet forum, follow the reaction to said rumour on another internet forum, throw in a few made-up facts, don't bother to interview anybody (and certainly don't interview a range of people - you wouldn't want balance to get in the way of a deadline), then sit back and see what happens.

Apparently Manly is also responsible for climate change, September 11 and the Holocaust. Look for those stories from Rothfield in the weeks ahead.

Don't let the facts get in the way of selling newspapers - I am sure this is on the start up screen of every Limited News journalist' computer.

sadly in this day and age, this IS why journos like him are there, heck he probably even got a bonus in the back pocket for the hits it received rather than a slap on the wrist and a red face for being incorrect. You want 'reporters', then don't go looking for them at the tele i'm afraid!
It's all a big race to be 'Breaking' to get that first flurry of hits so when your numbers people report back to the advertisers there are a few extra 0's in there. Sadly despite it being a regular thing with this goon, we still fall straight in the trap.

Apologies for stating the obvious, but it could also have been avoided if May did not shoot his mouth off on a fan forum and actually kept the contract negotiations confidential like I believe all 15 other CEOs would have done if they were in his position.

The Daily Telegraph's reporting on all things Rugby League has been disgraceful ever since Peter Frilingos bundied off.

The Titans CEO has exposed himself as being way out of his depth.

He gained the "impression" Manly was happy to release Jamie. Wrong. And he gained the "impression" Jamie wanted to go there this year. Wrong. But far worse than not reading the situation accurately, he shot his mouth off pre-emptively - at the expense of the Titans, and of his own credibility. A sure sign of someone who is a puppet to their ego and out of their depth.

Of course the same can be said about Rothfield, but that's the style of journalism routinely expected from the Telegraph.

Journalism these days is rehashing twitter feeds, facebook messages and forum posts. There is no skill or art to it anymore. It's so transient and temporary, no permanent record just very fluid webpages that bend with the story and evolve the truth as the facts change. Very little editorial intervention and almost zero accountability.

It's embarrassing that they even call themselves journalists, they are just trolls who mine cyberspace for opinion and pass it off as reporting. It's not about fact anymore, it's about speed and expediency, they are more concerned with getting a story out there rather than getting the RIGHT story out there. Cut and paste rules.

Unfortunately we as the general public do share some of the blame. The public thirst for news now has over taken the need for accuracy. CNN has all but done away with their entire investigative news team, simply because its not profitable. Once these companies became public and its share price and profits dictated its success it was always going to go that way. Sad really.

Rothfield spin today

Jamie Lyon contract saga poorly handled
by: Phil Rothfield From: The Daily Telegraph January 21, 2013 12:00AM

This is just spin from Rothfield.

David May spoke to David Perry to get permission to negotiate, which is in accordance with NRL guidelines. Perry was of the understanding that they were talking about 2014 and beyond and could not reasonably refuse. The discussions were held between May and Jamie's Manager. Along the way May decided it would be great to have Jamie for 2013 and so increased the offer to include 2013. May suggested to Jamie's Manager that they ask for a release from the final year of his contract.

We all know how it panned out from there. Rothfield saw the GC Forum speculation and phoned May. May thought he had reached agreement with Jamie because his Manager was so enthused about his potential commision.

David May and Jamie's Manager are as bad as Rothfield.
