You could always sit on the hill you toffs ;)

I hear you and I am sure the club will.

Maybe the club forgot to mention that the extra $100 cost comes with free sandwiches at every game.   ;D

Crowds at brookie were down this year compared to 2008 and this is not a good way to improve things in 2010.

Another $100 a ticket (we have three) in the JT stand to see one less game next year.

And some people said that Grant Mayer was the problem.  He has long gone and things seem to be worse.  This increase has the smell of being made by the same peope who have run the leagues club into the ground.

The food at the ground this year was absolutely disgraceful and most of the time it was cold or they had run out.  Maybe they will put poker machines into the ground next to raise money.

Brookvale Average - 2005 - 15171
Brookvale Average - 2006 - 15484 (11 games)
Brookvale Average - 2007 - 14900 (11 games)
Brookvale Average - 2008 - 14118 (10 games)
Brookvale Average - 2009 - 13593 (11 games)

Overall Average - 2005 - 15171
Overall Average - 2006 - 15794
Overall Average - 2007 - 15085
Overall Average - 2008 - 13694
Overall Average - 2009 - 13782

In summary hasnt crowds dropped since 2006, its a bit of a worry really considering we were 2008 premiers. That trend does not look pretty.

But there has been an overall pickup in 2009 compared to 2008 which (although there is a drop at brookvale 2008 attendance) IMO is a good performance considering we have been without the drawcard of Snake, overall team poor form & especially the Financial Crisis which has destroyed allot of people's income.

I would start to get worried but not surprised if next years crowd drops again due to increasing unemployment.

The financial crisis has been one of the best financial boons for me, through most of my life. I got a pay rise plus my mortgage went down.

Anyway with that said. You are right, crowds are dropping not going up, supply and demand argument seems to be on shaky ground

Agreed Duff.  The Club is a charity Todd.  I can't eat it, or sleep in it.  It's a leisure activity which brings me pleasure throughout the year.  So if you don't want to pay for seating, pay to sit on the hill.  I'm a member and purchase a package to have the pleasure of venting and sitting on a grassy hill watching a bunch of boofy guys run around.  Strange really.  My mother in law pays heaps more to attend half a dozen operas at the OH.  I'm sure she doesn't mind paying the outrageous cost.  I wouldn't but if and when I have to pay more to get in to Brookie, I will, willingly.  Strange with those stats on attendance.  It seems to me on reading them that we attract more when we're doing poorly.  Weird.

I didn't realise that the crowds were trending down so much.

Any idea how the average crowds of the seventies and eighties at Brookie compare to these figures?

I think you treat it like a charity as you feel it is part of you - which is your perogative.

However I can guarantee you if they start turnig a profit and become bigger and better the prices will continue to rise regardless.

But I guess - I am cheap as you say....

Similar story for 70 and 71

Thanks for the info.

Based on these figures the past couple of years attendances have not been too bad afterall.  I wonder how much better the crowds would be if we had a stadium like Parra with proper parking facilities?

your assumption is based on no population growth. Consider the current population growth over the 3 council regions Pittwater, Warringah & Manly of 1%. Then our current figure should atleast be 39% more than what it was in the 70's . This simply means our fan base has stayed relitvly flat, if we get the same figures.

Tookeys suggestion that a better stadium may lead to bigger crowds may be close to the mark.

Its not real comfy at Brookie with a big crowd
